As a newbie 1P it was frustrating to get my first 8 E-500s in Feb and have them taken away before I could use even one!

I don't know how, or why...wasn't 1K back in 2007, so I couldn't sign up even if I wanted to then...I am 1K now. All I know is I've got miles I wasn't expecting

As soon as I realized that I didn't receive the miles for the e500 certificates, I called Mileage Plus customer service and asked why I didn't get them. The agent explained about the very rare 2007 promotion and that I wasn't eligible. I thought I was not going to get anything, but to my surprise she asked me for my email address and sent me an email with 3 choices:

$200 E-Certificate or
10% Economy E-Certificate or
9000 bonus Mileage Plus miles

She did say that it was in appreciation for being a 1K. I only had 6 certificates left so this is much more than I had. Very happy with United right now!

I tried the same tactic as I was in pretty much the same boat and she said she would send out an email which I'm hoping has the same options. Nothing ventured nothing gained...

Wow, pretty fast response as the email from UA arrived just now within a few hours of my call to customer service. The agent I spoke to listened politely, explained about the '07 promo and when I politely expressed by displeasure at not having received anything for the earned e-500's unlike others she sent me an email offering this lowly 1P a similar email to the one like conrv received, though with $150 off, 10% e-cert or 7K MP miles.

As a fairly new elite who's never approached customer service to date I'm happy with the outcome also. ^

Mine posted correctly too.

I seem to recall that you could only get the conversion if you signed up and were 1k, many moons ago.

Wrong! The conversion was offered to those who were 1P or above at the time of the election in 2007. I was a 1P, made the election in 2007, and got my 1 e-500 converted:

Just called and got routed to the India Call Center. Nothing was offered. Maybe I'll try again later.

Thanks. :)

I've been happy with my UA travels since switching over from AC a few years back and was appreciative of the goodwill gesture extended to me. I would've left it alone had the call to customer service gone nowhere but luckily it didn't. It's nice being 1P. ;)

My 500mile-upgrades that were deleted on March 19th are now credited in miles to my account.

e500 no Conversion Offer in 2007

Not to contradict DCBob,

But I've never fallen below 1P status since 1995 and was a 1K starting in Sept 2007 and was NEVER offered any conversion of my expiring e-500s.

I have to ask this silly question: Is there some reason that ANYONE would not want RDMs if their e500s expired ? If so, why did a UA MP 1P or higher have to OPT IN so to speak in order to receive the RDMs ??

I ended February 2010 with 12 or so e-500s and did not receive anything for their siezure (or expiration if that's the more polite term).

So I contacted 1KVoice via email. I got a reply and an offer of 9000 RDMs to post to my MP 1K account within 7 to 10 business days. The offer came THursday March 25. We'll see if they materialize.

Prior to May 2007, UA autoconverted all e500s for elites to RDMS.

In May 2007, UA announced they were discontinuing the practice.

There was such an uproar about this on FT, there was a "quiet" announcement of a limited promo to "grandfather" some. This is similar to last year's retroactive purchase window for the 2009 Spring DEQMs.

So, I emailed 1K Voice and still got nothing. For those of you that called or emailed and got the miles, were you 1Ks back in 2007? I didn't start flying UA until 2008, so maybe that's why they're not offering anything. Even though I made Global Services in 2009, and am 1K this year.
