My e500's credited today.
Mrs. Cap'n Adventure (also a 1P) did not get the credit. Both of us were grandfathered in, and had received credit for expired e500's in the past. I called MP Customer Service, and they explained that the grandfathering promotion expired if your status ever dropped below 1P after registration. Unfortunately, Mrs. Cap'n Adventure dropped to 2P for part of last year, so 8000 miles were lost. :( I was lucky enough to be an overseas resident AND did the enrollment for grandfathering (phew), so I got mine. But I do think UA has been too inconsistent and not entirely smart about this from a customer service/marketing point of view. Why not just allow everyone who had e500s that they were going to turn to dust, get credit? Sometimes a little goodwill goes a long way :D. To those who did miss out, perhaps a well placed letter to CS might be worth the effort. If enough of you write in, you may get some joy. After all, its happened before on other UA issues, e.g: 500 mile minimums comes to mind, plus the uproar that led to this grandfathering of e500s in the first place. |
Got credit on 3/23
Had worked my e500s down to just 4 prior to UDU start up, and I received 2,000 MP miles in my account for the removed e500s this week. Already upgraded on the next 2 trips with near expiration regionals and SWUs, so the jury remains out on whether the new system is a + or - for me.

Should I get upset over missing out on 8000 miles? I am more upset about using CR1's to confirm than the mileage...but at least I knew I would get the upgrade in advance.

Mine posted yesterday; only had three left so it didn't matter one way or the other to me.

Near all ours converted to miles at all times.
Losing these will make a serious dent in our account balances going forward... |
I missed registering for the e500's for miles ... shame on me for joining FT too late to realize what I have been missing out on info ;)
I had 35+ e500's in bank and yes, poof, gone. |

I'm really curious how the few that claimed not to be grandfather but got the conversion ended up with it?

unexpectedly, I ended up with 4 posting as miles (I thought I was down to 2 )
my wife had one left and was credited the 500. we both were registered for the grandfather process and have maintained 1P. |

Ouch. Don't think I had that many vanish, probably around a dozen or so. I just wish there was some rhyme or reason to who got miles and who didn't as some who were grandfathered got them while recent elites did as well. I'm not going to throw one of the oft seen tantrums and vow never to fly UA again but it is mildy disappointing being a recent 1P and getting a big fat zilch added to my acount.
A few emails later I was able to resolve to my satisfaction ;) |
Received a mail with a compensation for losing the E500's... It seems that UA CS does listen from time to time to the "grieves" of the customers...
I'm happy with the service :) |
