LSG Sky Chefs Response to Denver FDA Letter
Neu-Isenburg - As the world's largest provider of in-flight services it is LSG Sky Chefs' goal to provide our customers and the flying public with the highest quality food and services available. Every day we strive to meet or exceed the compliance requirements set for our industry and to safeguard the health and safety of our customers.
After a routine inspection by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), we were notified that our Denver facility did not meet all of the compliance standards set by the agency. Although there is no indication of any product quality issues or documented instances of foodborne illness from the Denver facility, we have taken immediate and aggressive steps to address the issues.
We have stepped up our testing processes and procedures, upgraded our environmental monitoring program, and implemented new cleaning schedules and facility repairs to ensure that there is no possible risk to passengers or our employees. Additionally, our corrective actions include the hiring of outside specialists to develop and institute additional safety procedures.
Food safety and security is a constant focus for our organization. There is nothing more important to us than the quality of our products and the safety of our consumers. Therefore, we will continue to take aggressive corrective action to bring the Denver facility back into full FDA compliance.

Absolutely revolting.
When I'm served dinner tomorrow, I'll ask the FA if that comes with roaches.

I flew DEN-ORD in C on Jan 2nd and had the steak salad.
I've been sick for 2 days.
Not making any accusations since I can't prove it, but that sure seems like an interesting coincidence....
UA really let me down on my travels over the holidays. Lost luggage in both directions. Poor onboard service. Unhelpful phone agents. And now this.

"We make no excuses for this report," Van Duyne said. "We've taken immediate and aggressive actions after we received the initial findings in October. We're confident we'll pass" the follow-up inspection.
Van Duyne said the company hasn't received any reports of airline passengers becoming ill from its food. She said FDA inspectors were back in the Denver building on Monday."
So I guess it's safe to eat the F meal on UA out of DEN again

UA is also at fault here. The fact they don't inspect the facilities where the food comes from really tells me how much they care.
If I were flying ex-DEN, I would print out copies of that letter and make sure the entire F cabin got a copy. People have a right to know.
If I could only go back in time and vomit the food I consumed on those flights....

I would like hear UA's comment on the situation. Ugh.
Also in the letter:
• Employees handling food with bare hands or with unwashed gloved hands
• Water dripping from the ceiling into equipment/utensil cleaning areas
• Gaps from 1-2.5 inches under garbage room doors, receiving dock doors, and outbound dock area doors
• Standing water in the garbage room
• Accumulation of debris in various areas such as in the ice pit, dairy cooler, dish machine area, and automatic cart wash area
• Holes in wall surfaces, creating areas for insect and vermin harborage
• Debris and standing liquid inside the automatic cart wash machine

Wondering where they imported the roaches from? Roaches in Denver in the middle of winter? They really had to be working hard to achieve that.

Did I have roaches in my chicken salad that I did not know about?
