The Seinfeld Message
Have you read Mr. Tilton's first message in this month's Hemispheres Magazine?
I found the messgae to be packed in intellectual vacuity. So what else is new in UAheavens?
If you wish to rebutt me, (pun intended), please do me that great favor, I might be bouyed to a higer sphere of consciousness.

Not flying for another week, and the Chairman's message doesn't appear to be online at http://www.hemispheresmagazine.com -- care to sum it up?

Yeah, I know. I would have quoted it.... They didn't post it on the Internet edition of Hemispheres Magazine.
Doesn't it tell you something?
I don't wish to sum it up. I don't want to filter it through my mental system. I would rather have folks make up their own mind and I'll save my follow-up comments for later...

Mr Tilton introduces himself and he has a whole group of people around him. He said he hopes our experience has been good and he wants us to see the people who worked hard to get "you here today" from Grace/Gladys (whoever) in reservations who took your call to Captain somebody who is flying your plane. We know you have a choice, and we are working hard , etc. etc. Very pleasant and its nice to see him making an appearance. Nothing earth shattering, however.

I just skimmed it, so maybe I missed it. But it struck me that he never once mentioned the mechanics. Guess they don't count until they get on board?
They're not in the video either. I have never seen a planeful of people laugh so hard as when they showed that tape Friday night right after furloughing 2700 flight attendants...

If you look carefully at the article, there is a short, short sentence about the mechanics (I had the same wonder myself).
When I first saw the video, I commented on its lack of content to a nearby flight attendant, who replied -- literally in a huff -- "He's the first CEO in 17 years who did even that."
So I suppose this video is not directed to customers, but to employees. Wonder if that means they just need to show it in first (employee) class?

What made me laugh was to watch the video, feeling really cared of by Mr Tilton who wanted to "get me here today", whereas the plane was out of order so that we left with a 24 hours delay (ORD CDG on Nov 4th)

I agree about the video being fluff, but I honestly think it is directed more towards the employees than the passengers. Kind of a not-so-subliminal message about stressing service. Whether it is working or not is anyones guess. My experiences in the last couple of weeks have been good, but who knows overall.
