I caught the same thing, and was initially thinking alphabetical but that isn't the way the economy fare classes are listed.

Ahem... Let me explain the J fare in terms of an simile...

The new J fare like an inflight M. Night Shamalan movie.

Timothy

You will be 30,000 feet over the surface of the earth. There will be suspense. There will be a twist. And there will be disappointment.

UA now uses booking code J

Just doing a dummy standard award booking and I'm seeing J class in the fare buckets... doesn't look like it took the place of C, D, Z.

I see the following for my SFO-HKG flight on Thanksgiving:
XF0 NF0 J9 XC0 NC0

Any thoughts?

I just did a couple dummy booking on .bomb and I'm not able to even see any buckets like XF0 NF1 XC0 NC3. All I see are all the fare classes. Is this something new for UAL?

An paid booking or a (Standard) Award booking? Award/upgrade is only in the latter.

WineCountryUA I've tried both. No upgrade available buckets are showing up when I log into .bomb. I've even looked at an award trip I have booked and nothing shows up.

J is not the only change I keep noticing. Another development is how Y=0 on many flights around Xmas even with Q9V9 etc.

It's good to see that the word from Someone Who Knows has been re-verified.

Just ran into J fares (JXRT and JWRT to be specific) for the first time, on NRT-TPE. Good to see the info in this thread... didn't know it was going to supersede C as the new "full fare" biz.

Does this mean that only J, C are good for GS requal? Not that it should matter to me...
