You seem to relish the fact that many people are offended and annoyed when you try to foist your superstitions on them. If I choose to join your cult, I'll let you know.

As long as it is your lord. I wouldn't want your lord to mind my business.

More seriously, this thread is rapidly becoming a slugfest between those that believe in a supernatural being and those who do not assume the existence thereof. I hope we can leave this discussion now because no matter what is being said someone will be offended.

And when your employees choose to walk away, do you conciously or unconsiously hold it against them at their review? Do you care that you may be creating a hostile workplace for people who happen to hold beliefs different from yours?

This thread has drifted way off-topic, so I'll stop posting to it. I imagine my feelings on the topic are clear by now anyway.

I hope the day is not too far off when someone can file a religious harrassment suit against people who display religious pornography like pictures of Jesus on their desks at work.

Maybe people will stop posting here, since this has gotten a little off-topic. But it is more fun reading than most of the others - so I'm hoping it continues.

I wonder what would happen if an FA wore a pin saying: "There is no God".

Actually I don't wonder - I have a pretty good idea of how long that would last.

To reply to SNORKDOC "not worth replying to".To reply to DHACKER,I manage over 300 employees, and in my 17 years at this company have never had an employee leave because of our beliefs. If we lose a customer because of my beliefs,I have always noticed that I pick up 5 new customers. The Lord works in awesome ways when you truly believe. God Bless

Don't you have anything better to worry about? People have tattoo's saying "I love xwhatever."

I don't like tattos and have seen them on FA's before. Good luck getting another job later...that's they're deal. It wasn't even a tattoo, but, rather a piece of cloth. Does she have less rights than an Arab that wants to have the same saying "I love Allah?"

This particular FA loves Jesus...what is wrong with that and why do you have a problem with? You obviously do, otherwise you wouldn't have posted.

Let's not get into the silliness that it was for "others" protection.

As I stated in my message, the necklace didn't bother me. Why are you trying to make my message say something else, or going on the defensive about your religion by my message in the first place.

From the responses, there is a spectrum of opinions on the FA letting their view be known.

My own opinion is that the FA uniform should be standard, and that they should not be allowed to adorn/wear anything in addition to it. I love Jesus, I love abortion, Gore in 2004, I love Cheetos, ... I don't really care.

In a service business, I do not want to know the provider's view on anything. They are free to have their view in the privacy of their own activities, but not while active in their profession. But that's just me.

BTW, the FA was male, not female. An interesting stereotype perhaps casting the rest of the discussion as well.

In honor of Homer, "mmmmm, purple". (eating a donut filled with purple goo)

Jesus is Lard (not misspelled)

FWIW...did any of you see "The Big Kahuna" with Kevin Spacey and Danny Devito? Very interesting movie that depicts one salesman injecting religion into the workplace.

Believe what you want. I follow Bertrand Russell in defending your right to believe it. But not to foist it on me 1) when I'm a captive audience and 2) when you have power over me if I express this disapproval of your propaganda [like having me removed from the plane]. Like if I tell you to love off.

Would it be okay to have a pin that says " I love SATAN"?

Foist

To pass off as genuine, valuable, or worthy: “I can usually tell whether a poet... is foisting off on us what he'd like to think is pure invention” (J.D. Salinger).

To impose (something or someone unwanted) upon another by coercion or trickery: They had extra work foisted on them because they couldn't say no to the boss.

To insert fraudulently or deceitfully: foisted unfair provisions into the contract.

Having a pin on my shirt that says I love Jesus doesn't do any of the above.

Even if you consider it an "advertisement" you are free to ignore just as any on tv, radio, or published media.

IMO, the workplace is not a place to display, discuss, promulgate, etc., one's political, religious, or social views. Certainly if one is the OWNER of the business, one may do this, but at one's own risk (of losing business).

Now since United's employees own 55% of the common stock, they may feel entitled to do this type of stuff. However, since no ONE employee owns a majority of the shares, I believe such a feeling would be misguided at best.

Having said that, this particular display would not bother me, personally. Nor would it bother me if an employee wore a yarmulke or crucifix, etc., on the job. If they were to start TALKING about their beliefs, then that would bother me. If a particular airline started putting religious symbols on the uniform, that would bother me, largely because it might have the effect of forcing employees who believe something else to comply to save their jobs. I don't fly Alaska Airlines and was unaware of the proselytizing napkins, but that would bother me.

Dunno if that's rational or consistent, but that's my $0.02.

Sure, but you'll get worse looks than I will. Go right ahead.

God believes in you even if you don't believe in Him. How anyone could look at the beauty of the world and not see God is beyond me. Everyone else (e.g., Hollywood, media) has the right to speak up and say whats on their minds and so do we. Its time that we as Christians stood up proudly and expressed our views. If people don't like this about Alaska Airlines, then they don't have to fly them. But, I'll bet if they advertised this, they would probably see a significant increase in passengers who travel with them!
