hmm, sorry to hear that -- I wonder the access is being reduced to certain countries only?

As a last resort, you can follow this advice from united.com:

From outside the U.S. and Canada, please call 001-605-399-2411.

From Thailand, you get "the number you have called is no longer in service."

Odd, it works OK in the US. It actually takes you to MP Customer Svce, not to UA Reservations.

The 1K "Toll-Free Calling Guide" number doesn't work from Vietnam either

Just tried the AT&T access number and got an operator, but they would not connect me to United with 1K number. They said it is not set up for toll free dialing and would require some form of payment. I also tried the other United 800 numbers on their website, to no avail. Does anyone have any advice?

I just tried from my mobile here in Thailand. The AT&T put the call through without asking for a calling card but the call got the error "you have dialed a number which cannot be reached from your calling area".

Not working here in New Zealand either

This had better be a technical glitch!

This service is intended only for GSs/1Ks to contact UA when outside NAmerica and it is not intended to be widely disseminated. I've successfully contacted UA using the number in past months from various countries, but from the numbers provided on the 1K site.

IME, as long as you can reach a local AT&T access number and hear the "AT&T" greeting, then you can dial the 1K number. I use this all the time here in Thailand, 001-999-111-11, where I pay no local access charges from my fixed or mobile lines. Thanks for originally posting about this, I would have missed it in the 1K pack, as it has saved me a lot of time and money.

Thanks also for the bump, I'm sure a lot of new 1K's might not be aware of this valuable information.

I spent 10 mins on da.bomb just now looking for the access to the 1K only site to get the access number.

It used to be easily visible but be darned if I could find it today?

I gave up and paid for the call as it was urgent.
