Definitely works through VPN. And yes, please be respectful of other passengers. Listen only, video off, and use chat to message people instead of talking.

There is nothing definite about getting it to work so I would not count on it, it will depend on the satellite provider, how your vpn is configured if you are going thru one, where you are flying, I fly tatl a lot wifi is great but it drops about 15 times on an average flight, if you are just browsing you might not notice it is so quick but a zoom call would tend to disconnect, you might also find yourself on a flight where the wifi simply isn’t working, not that common these days but it can happen, plus keep in mind confidentially and privacy issues, I find myself shocked at how little people consider this when working on a flight, my office has really begun to crack down on this essentially blocking our ability to connect into our systems from a growing number of locations, and sending out frequent reminders about privacy screens,

in the end if the call is important rearrange your flight, if it isn’t you can take your chances

exactly. that works and has zero impact on other passengers. It is in essence like listening to music through your headphones ... nothing wrong with that

A friend attended the birth of one of his children via FaceTime on EWR-IAH a few years back. What's the etiquette on that?

Good to know, and should have thought about it a long time ago. I am the listen-only type in most of the Teams meetings that I have had to miss while inflight, so will try this next time.

How does listening into a Zoom/Teams meeting impact other passengers any more than watching Netflix?

Just to add to all of this, about a year ago I listened in on a Teams mtg on a UA flight (I think it was a 739) and I wasn't on VPN. So I would suggest trying it without VPN first, if you are going that route.

He should have taken an earlier flight.

Because 90% of people will without doubt speak up and that's the end of the watching netflix scenario. I've seen/heard it already on planes. That's what the call button is for. Work can wait for once.

The even "bester" part is not having to listen to others' work.

If this meeting is a must, please reschedule the meeting or your flight. The collective onboard don't want to hear it, see it, or have their bandwidth consumed by it. Thanks.

Believe it or not, there are legitimate reasons that someone might need to listen in to a meeting while in the air. Listening does not impact you at all and is not your concern.

Again ... I'm not talking about talking or presenting which is bad for multiple reasons.

Please don't be that guy. As a United Captain, I have had issues with this, and it will not end well for the offending passenger if he/she does not stop.
