Premier Gold, booked two tickets, MCO-LAX, E+ seats as gold, but now i cannot travel

Am I able to cancel just one traveler (myself) on an itinerary where I booked two travelers for a one-way MCO-LAX

If I cancel, will my companion get to keep the E+ seat I booked at no charge, or will United force her to pay the upcharge from E to E+?

You can split the PNR and then cancel your ticket. United may or may not change her seat at the time of the split, but they will not require a payment if she doesn't lose the seat.
