For those that have reservations made BEFORE this was announced, will this impact us and will we be screwed for 20 points if the domestic segment clears?? Or will we be grandfathered in here and the 40 pts refunded (if domestic segment clears but no overseas one)

Unless an exception is made, if travel is after 4 December then I would expect the GPU to become 40 points and for 20 to be used if the domestic segment clears.

Sorry if I missed this elsewhere , but what happens to PS flights? Right now you can use an RPU to upgrade on a transcon to a flat bed, which is a huge benefit of the RPU (when it can actually be used). With the introduction of PP plus PE, does this mean it will now be a GPU / 40pp to upgrade on a PS flight? (Yes, I had fun with the P acronyms).

Presently unknown, the surprize making PP a separate cabin on a few "PS" flights has added uncertainty but most of the "PS" flights do not have PP seats.

Too add potential insult to injury, how would a MilagePlus Upgrade award work on said P.S. flights? Would it be 20,000 miles to go from Y to PY? That seems pretty steep if you ask me when a roundtrip flight in Y is 25,000 miles!

P.S. will PP flights qualify for UC access similar to BusinessFirst (passengers last) flyers on said routes?

Safe Travels,

James

On International Business / Polaris class gets free UC access (and Polaris gets PL if it exists for that airport) but PP gets discounted UC access.
Doubt domestic PP will be any more generous.

Skip The Waitlist works when there is no PZ availability (or PN if you're GS). ...

Has there been any confirmation that GS's will be able to "Skip Waitlist"?
MP Updates says "This benefit is exclusive to members with 1K status", which makes me think it might just be a way for 1Ks to buy up to PN inventory..?

I am dreading this will be an “enhancement you will love”

1Ks will not get a benefit that is unavailable to GS. GS may have some kind of "skip the waitlist" that happens with no additional points required, or it may work the same as it does for 1Ks, but they're definitely going to have that as a benefit.

The reason the page says "exclusive to 1K" is that they don't typically publish GS benefits, per se.

While this is true, it's also entirely possible that StW just opens PN inventory, which GS members can already access, and that there is no additional StW function for GS members.

Not aware of any 1K benefit that is not available to GS, UA generally does not say anything publically about GS benefits (boarding is about the only exception)But UA has opened some GS "benefits" to 1Ks previously-- preboarding, PN for Instant Upgrades, ...

That is not the case. In the interview I was asked on my reaction to StW at a certain level (whether I think it is reasonable).

Yes, in many instances, GS already have a StW benefit by virtue of access to PN inventory.

I tend to agree. The website already confirms that StW requires a W+ fare, and I would be surprised if the median price is more than 80 points on first rollout.
.

I think that is too optimistic.

Unfortunately, that is not true in the majority of cases.

Of course it is.

PN to PZ availability on a number of flights basis is at least 10:1.

GS already get access to PN for free at the time of booking, so it could still technically be exclusive to 1K if they do decide to auction off some of the extra PN to 1Ks.

They're also requiring 30+ days for StW, so even if the 1K-StW inventory is coming from PN, they'll still have some flexibility to save some PN for GS using upgrades.
