1/14 UA29 SFO-SIN 789 and 1/15 UA28 SIN-SFO 789 cancelled due to MX. Seems to have pushed and returned to gate and subsequently canceled.

UA did schedule a makeup flight a full day later: 1/15 UA3049 SFO-SIN 789 and 1/16 UA3010 SIN-SFO 789.

1/17 UA28 SIN-SFO 789 delayed by 24 hours due to the inbound crew (originally on 1/14 UA29, now presumably on 1/15 UA3049) not having had sufficient rest. Surprising UA couldn't deadhead a spare crew on the makeup flight or make some other arrangement with the full day-long "delay."

1/15 UA931 ORD-LHR and the corresponding return 1/16 UA959 LHR-ORD cancelled due to maintenance. Looks to be N671UA (76L), which is scheduled to operate UA931 tonight instead.

AFAIK if they are deadheading the crew SIN, they will be subject to the same rest requirements as others. Any deadhead/rescue crews would likely be assigned to downline flights after their required rest period.

Correct. Part 117 (https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-1...ter-G/part-117) makes it bluntly clear

For purposes of determining the maximum flight duty period in Table B of this part, deadhead transportation is not considered a flight segment.

To add to the SIN woes:

1/16 UA28 SIN-SFO 789 departed 1:45 late and arrived 1:15 late due primarily to the fact that catering did not load coffee and tea in the coach galleys (I was sitting near door 2 and overheard the lengthy discussions between FAs and ground staff). The inbound was an hour late, but with a reasonable turnaround time we were only expecting a ~15 minute arrival delay into SFO before someone discovered the catering snafu. Perhaps the fact that there were two UA flights going out at the same time (ours and the rescue UA3010 from the canceled UA28 the day before) complicated matters for the caterers.

I wonder how the coach pax would feel if they knew the reason that they missed their connections to the 10:30pm west coast bank at SFO was our one-hour wait for airplane coffee and tea.

Dang! I was in row 5 for this flight - wish I’d known you were onboard and close!

I’d been booked originally on the morning flight (UA2) but switched to 28 as the morning upgrades all disintegrated with the 1/15-1/16 cancellations/rescue.

Tough couple of days for UA SFO-SIN-SFO.

Are HNL-GUM flights considered international? UA 201 operated by 77W #2144 just went tech in HNL and the flight has been cancelled. Assuming the follow on GUM-HKG-GUM rotation will be affected as well.

1-20-23 SFO-SIN UA29 diverted to GUM- aircraft emergency

1-20-23. UA 29 SFO-SIN had to do an emergency landing in Guam due to weather radar and other systems failure. My wife was on board, freaked me the f' out when I got her text at 1:20am (screenshot here). Was tracking the flight because I just had a bad feeling about it since she took off (we are both seasoned flyers, never ever have any anxiety, except on Friday!).
She had to overnight in GUM, they put her up in some subpar hotel and then departed for SIN on Sunday at 3:00pm.
My personal opinion is that United is overworking these airplanes. I know they are designed to run for a while but this aircraft has been making its rounds around the globe for days with very short times on the ground.

I looked up and found:
Fri 1/20 UA29 SFO-SIN departed GUM (as UA3029) after 22 hours there, arrived ~7 pm Sun 1/22, ~23 hours late.
Sat 1/21 UA28 SIN-SFO was canceled. 789-3972 flew Sun 1/22 UA28 SIN-SFO instead.
Sat 1/21 UA29 SFO-SIN was canceled, so there's no extra plane in SIN.

Correct. We had friends on the Saturday flight that had to find other ways to get there on time.

UA917 SFO-AKL is cancelled tonight (1/26/23) because of severe flooding at AKL. The return UA916 (1/28/23) is also cancelled.

UA29 SFO-SIN was cancelled today (3/14/23) along with the return for that aircraft, UA28 on 3/15/23.

Looks like it took a delay while SFO experienced weather (high winds, storm) and they cancelled it a few hours after departure time.
