Maybe because it's that the menu is a photocopied piece of paper? Not sure.
Wouldn't be surprised if that was done by the purser/in-flight manager themselves, probably even on their own dime & time.
I would totally forgive such a menu over none at all. Is it ideal? No, not really, but someone took initiative here to provide at least 'something'!

I had not seen the photo before, thank you for posting - in which case this is just baked cod with tomato sauce, so whoever decided to call it sashimi really needs some time off to spend in wikipedia. It's just ridiculous.

LOL I get it -- but trust me 99% of most people don't have a clue - but to my wife it's life or death lol.... The Japanese are so precise -- sushi is sushi -- maki is maki - and nigiri is nigiri.... You totally got me on the details -- which I guarantee almost no one but you and I get - except perhaps for the JP forum...
