Funny - for all the years that I've heard it called an outrigger, I've never heard it called an "outrigger canoe." And yes, I believe you. But just for safety, and future reference, anyone here who suggests I "Google" anything should probably suggest I "Duck Duck Go" it

Stopped by in SFO united club near F gates and saw this.
also received this lovely cocktail mug made from coconut 🥥 And the bartender insisted I take one home for free. Would have paid at least $20 for this 🤩
ps only saw this in F gate club. Also stopped in Polaris lounge and E gate club and saw no mention there
stop by while you can

Back when I flew almost exclusively United and United was worth flying exclusively, I had many flights on United to and from the islands.
I always loved going to Hawaii on United. Including DC-10 service HNL-ORD back in the 90s. But after 2005 United started to quickly go downhill and I have since then found that Delta, Alaska, and Hawaiian provide Hawaii service with aloha.

AS may still provide service with “aloha” but their service to Islands is contracting at a startling rate. In some markets they have nearly given up service completely. Truly a sad situation with AS…

Their slide to/from HI coincided w/WN’s entry. AS seems to have suffered the most relative to the others.

Since another thread has brought up DC-8s, here's a few ads that showcase the plane in its UA service to the islands:

In the E club today at SFO and saw a sign at the bar advertising the 75th anniversary and offering free Mai Tais. As my SO and I were reading it, the bartender pro-actively offered us two Mai Tais and gave us 2 of the souvernir coconut cups. So, if you're in SFO and want one, hit up the E club while supplies last!
