Because 1/31/22 expiring ones were extended by 6 months to 7/31/22 when they did the 2nd extension of the 1/31/21 expiry

Thanks!

What are the other 200 that I have expiring 1/31/22? I noticed that some fellow 1K friends have a gaggle that expire 7/31/22, but none 1/31/22.

PP earned in 2021 => 2023-01-31 expiry date.
They "spent" the PPs earned in 2019 already?

Ah. Makes sense.

I wonder if one can read into the recent UA email campaign to "use your +P". Whether they are being nice and reminding you before they truly expire (lol), or whether they want you to feel like you better use 'em quick before they're gone!...but not really, because we are going to extend them again.

I feel that there is a plot ready to be exposed. Tick tock, let's GO already...

I just called to get a separate issue straightened out and asked if UA would do the quasi-traditional extension of 40 PPs to April, and the agent said she had been told to expect a decision in "mid to late December." Which doesn't tell us much, except that the company still hasn't made up its mind.

There was an interview (maybe on TPG) where a UA exec essentially said the same thing. They're going to look at intl travel and make a call. I would think they'd make up their mind new qualification requirements first before thinking about PP

Guiding that leash to the very last second. Ugh.

let's be fair, they have already been extended twice to +1 year. Nothing traditional here. The extra +3 would come on top of the +12 already granted.

Let's see what they decide to do.

+3 won't do much tbh with all this variant talk. Either let them expire or give at least +6. At a minimum, I hope that like previous years people who re-qualified for 1k will be allowed to extend some.

That's what I meant--continue with the pre-pandemic precedent.

You are not talking about PPs earned during 2020. The precedent will allow an extension of 80 PPs earned in 2020 for three months after you requalify this year. In fact, United has extended all those PPs for six months (expiring July 31, 2022).

There is no precedent for PPs earned during 2019, that is, two years ago. One 1K agent told me that they will all expire. This is understandable because of the 3rd promotion this year. Many 1K requalify with 3000 PQP or less. It is fair that United let all 2019-earned PPs expire on Jan. 31, 2022 because they have been extended for one year and United has tried to make it easy to requalify 1K.

With PZ=0 being far more common and STW being available, It's alot easier to use up those PP. People will be more willing to use STW when they know their PP are about to expire. Basically a devaluation

FWIW, my PP that I earned in 2019 which had an expiration of 01/31/2022 now show 07/31/2022. I did requal 1K through FTTF. Digital membership card shows 2023 expiration date as well. PP earned this year shows a 01/31/2023 expiration date.

Same here. 2019 PP now extended from 1/31/22 to 7/21/22. Thanks for the heads-up.
