United Happy Returns promotion
Just got this fantastic new promotion in the mail. If I register, I can get 4500 UA bonus miles if I spend $32,000 by the end of the year on my explorer card. Whee! Based on current points guy valuations of $ .013 /mile, this is worth...wait for it...about $60. And what an easy ask - spend more than $10,000 a month on this credit card? My stimulus checks have been a little short to get to that level. Anyway, thanks Chase and United, if I'm really going to spend $30k I'll just do it on my AMEX platinum, where if spent on travel I will get an extra $2300 in value vs the spend on UA.
Amex value $32000 at 5 points per dollar at $.02 value = $3200
UA explorer $32000 at 2 points per dollar at $.013 value = $832. Plus 58.50 for the bonus, is a whopping $890.50.

I got one to requalify for Gold. Not very useful to send to a Lifetime Gold...

Stumbled across this promo poking around the "new" UA website. I'm a Plat with the UA PPMC. My offer - spend $22K between Oct 1 and Dec 31 for 6000 miles.
