Desired ZRH - ORD - STL business award won't show up on UA's WEB site?

Trying to figure out how I can do the above routing? (using UA points)
There is a flight ZRH-ORD (Dec 26) that gets in around 12:30 and there are several flts out of ORD to STL leaving 2 to 3 hours later. Yet UA won't route me like that. They show various routes going through other European countries, then to CN and then to STL. Any way to go about getting my preferred route or get UA to give me that route via a phone call?
Thanks

Is there award space (X/XN/I/IN) on each desired flights? Space is not enough, you need award space

Do you have UA status? Which cabin are you looking for?

the flights you are talking about appears to be the first two combinations available when I searched (not logged in) (in economy though or highly priced everyday business class) award

You can book it through in X or XN and almost all connections from ORD to STL

Initially just checked ORD-STL and it was all zero, but just before you posted the image, I found the ZRH-ORD-STL

Thanks

Availability on one segment depends on the connecting segment. In this case UA will not sell a trip on ORD-STL alone but will on ZRH-ORD-STL

There a multiple variations of this hence the need to check both ways. I just checked the wrong one first.
Married segments on award tickets?

Thanks everyone for your input.
If I understand what is being said, all the segments have to have the same "saver" availability? If only one does (ZRH-ORD) and the other doesn't (ORD-STL) then it's a no go?
If I were to book the ZRH-ORD using points and the ORD-STL using $ (on 2 separate tickets) could they be connected so I would be protected in the event of "issues"?
Thanks...
BTW... I'm looking at flying J as much as possible on the return. Oh.. and no status either.

There's no official protection or technical way to "connect" them. However, if they're both UA, they'll likely take pity on you in case of "issues" and help get you back on another ORD-STL flight. Any incidentals like overnighting would be your responsibility.

why would you split the ticket if its the same number of miles whether you stop in ORD or continue onto STL?

Well that's the issue. I can't get from ZRH - STL in J without having long layovers someplace along the line.

Thanks for that info... Maybe I'll fly their Premium Economy back. It doesn't look to bad... and I'd only have 1.5 hr layover in ORD

Because there is no ORD-STL married segment award availability at the preferred time?

then its not a married segment problem to begin with. Zrh to Ord wasnt available for J saver redemption anyways.

in Y all connecting had married segment availability that day. (At least when I checked it). The problem is not married segment, its that ZRH to ORD is not available in saver anyways. If OP is willing to spend the everyday J award, all flights are available
