New United Club Infinite Card

Lost in the noise about schedule reductions and all the other economic news, and arguably strange timing, but Chase/UA announced a new affinity "United Club Infinite Card" this week. Not quite sure how to interpret one benefit - No blackout dates when redeeming miles, so you can fly without travel date restrictions.

In the distant past, UA had award blackout dates and some carriers still have them. But no longer for UA (they have had this marketing statement in most of their literature for years)

This card is a dud, unless you didn’t already have a Club card and want one now.

I agree, but maybe experts here can clarify some things for me? Given the new terms for United MileagePlus qualfications, I'm wondering if the card provides most of the important elite benefits for people who wouldn't be able to qualify base on spend? The card seems to have some of the important features that a UA flyer would want?

Yeah, really ought to say we'll give you the first 1.5 years for the fee (or any sign up now won't require reupping until, say, Sept. 1, 2021).

To be fair, these things are usually planned in advance. Even 3 months ago, no one could have anticipated this happening in the US and around the world.

No one forced them to go ahead and release the card now. Were the bloggers pushing this out for referral fees?

Free bags and Boarding Group 2. That matters for folks without Premier status.

No, Golds get boarding group 1. Silvers and above also get free E+. No credit card offers that.

I don't know what to believe these days. Too much conflict of interest with those guys like TPG.

Per the terms of their new deal, they had to pull the old card down. This launch has been planned for months.

Given the fact that the old Club card and the new Business card allows you to earn 500 PQP for $12,000 spend, up to 1000 PQP per year, I would imagine the new Club would be the same.
