Chase’s hard-headedness caused me to close my Club card this week.

Now I'm really confused. I private messaged Chase and specifically asked if I would qualify for the bonus. They replied that as long as I didn't receive a bonus on that card I would. I specifically told them my annual fee had been waived.

Wow. That would be great if you could also get the 100k plus your already free year of a united club membership.

Chase has always considered waiving the first year fee as a sign-up bonus and the response of a customer service agent is not binding on Chase.

This is a better topic for Chase | Ultimate Rewards forum, while folks are more familiar with Chase policies / practices

If I can't rely on a customer service rep reply to my question, who can provide me a response? I am unaware of any other person/department that I can contact.

People in the Chase forum that have multiple experiences to understand what are the real Chase's practices.

Phone reps (for any company) just read scripts and if you ask something outside their provided script, the response is unreliable. It is very possible the rep provided the standard "if no previous bonus" answer and ignore the part about the waived annual fee - they may or may not be familiar with waived first annual fee bonuses.

I don't know the answer but I know customer support reps many time muff non-simple questions.

Please understand that I say this without tone.

I appreciate the response and your opinion but it is really just that....your opinion. You do not represent Chase.

As an FYI, my inquiry was via a private message to Chase, not a call, so it would be difficult for them to claim they didn't know exactly what I asked.

Having said that, I am still leary that I can get the bonus. I will next confirm via a call for the tie breaker.

But no one here represents Chase. If you want an authoritative answer, don’t ask here... only Chase can give it to you. And as WineCountryUA correctly explains, the answer from a customer service rep may not necessarily be accurate in all cases, and whether you can later convince Chase to stand behind that answer is.... unknown.

Also not clear to me if “I specifically told them my annual fee had been waived” means that you specifically asked “does the AF waiver on the old card count as a bonus that disqualifies me from receiving the bonus on this new card” or whether it was just casually mentioned as part of your message.

Please understand I'm not trying to be argumentative or snarky, I'm just frustrated that I can't get a clear answer.

In my message to Chase, I clearly laid out the question of whether or not the waiver of the annual fee counted as a bonus for purposes of receiving the 100,000 mile bonus on the Infinite card.

This wiki thread hasn't had a post in a month and a half!
Looks like the 100k bonus is long gone.
Looks like first year annual fee waiver is the standard bonus now. Anybody know for how long?

The 100k bonus has been gone for what seems like over a month now.

It was probably the worst timed new card offering that I can recall.

The 1st year annual fee waiver (with no bonus miles) also seemed to be the standard offer for the old Club Card.

Over the past few years, they would occasionally have a 50-75k mile offer (in which case, the 1st year annual fee was not waived).

No idea if the same pattern will emerge for the new card.

Any idea how long the United Club access takes to be activated in your United account?

This what it states on card description

Please allow 2 weeks after account open date for the United Club membership to activate (excludes Star Alliance and affiliated lounges). The United Club membership card will be sent to the primary Cardmember 6 weeks after the account open date.
While you should plan on the 2 weeks, it will likely be less.

Thanks. Yeah I saw that but was interested in data points from those who have the card about what they experienced.

It was within 2-3 days that my online/app updated to reflect the club membership cards. I jumped on the no annual fee offer within the last few weeks. The physical credit card was overnighted (From the looks of the packaging) I think as well. It showed up to a house Im trying to sell so I’m not sure of the actual card arrival. Still no physical club membership card though. I thought we needed that for star alliance lounges?
