An ID is scanned during initial biometric registration. An individual's document (usually a driver's license) occasionally does not scan correctly (worn/faded/scratches/code resolution/etc), so an alternate ID (eg passport) might come in handy at initial biometric registration.

I’m an existing CLEAR member with an annual subscription, can I take advantage of the United preferred pricing for CLEAR?
If your CLEAR account was created or renewed less than 60 days ago, you’ll receive a refund for the difference of what you paid. Refunds normally take 3-5 business days after you add your United MileagePlus number to your CLEAR account.
Who can become a CLEAR member?
CLEAR welcomes individuals 18 years of age and older.
In order to enroll, you must have one of the following forms of photo identification: US Driver's License, US Passport, US Passport Card, US-issued Permanent Resident Card, State Issued ID, US Military ID, or Global Entry Card.
All forms of identification must be valid, unexpired, not amended and have a photo.

Slightly OT but related- I when I signed up on Monday and added a family member for $50 the charge posted today on my Chase Reserve as "Bills & Utilities" thus netting only 1 pt per dollar. Not the 3x for travel I was hoping for. You'd think CLEAR would be coded as travel.. Just a heads up to anyone who likes to maximize points.

Will do my biometrics tomorrow at DFW.

Follow Up:

I used the link on Wednesday and received an email that night that my new membership would be applied the following day. Current account reads:Full Membership

Your full membership subscription, including travel, sports and arenas, automatically renews on 08/29/2019 at $0.00 with your card ending in XXXX.

This is the most seamless thing I have ever done with UAL and any partner. Worked like a charm. No need to worry any further about this going forward. Its taken me more time to write this post than it did to get the renewal. To the mods, I used the link https://my.clearme.com/CommunityLinkUnited

This sounds like a PEBKAC issue though but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
  • I registered through the United link
  • Got my confirmation email like 3 hours later.
  • No login details, so I clicked forgot password and entered my details
  • No email with login details or resetting password. I checked my spam folder obviously. Nothing
  • It's been 2 days.

Same thing happened to me. Go in the chat and explain, they can resend the credentials email over.

Same happened to me. I even had Clear CS rep personally try to send login email and still nothing. I ended up having to use a gmail account instead of my company email.

I signed up for the free account, but still a little confused. If I use Clear to enter the line, does that mean I can't use Pre-Check to avoid unpacking everything?

CLEAR only replaces the ID check. After that they escort you to the front of whichever line you are eligible for. If you have Pre on your BP they will take you to the front of the Pre line.

Nice! Always hate having to pull out the ID. I'll make good use of it in EWR when it gets there.

A very nice benefit. Joined yesterday at DEN in 5 minutes. Very easy. Not much of a line in DEN (unusual in my experience over the last couple of years), but it was great this morning in SFO as I skipped to the front of a fairly long Pre-check line. Looking forward to using it in the future at DEN as the Pre-check line there has been growing over time.

Question:

if if a person has CLEAR but does not have Pre Check status, where does this person go after passing through the CLEAR check point? Does he/she go through the regular screening (take out computer etc) or does he/she go to the the lane without needing to take out computer etc?

As I said above:

If you have CLEAR but not Precheck, then after verifying you the CLEAR rep will escort you to the front of the regular line, and thereafter the rest of the process will be exactly the same as if you had not used CLEAR.

I added my MP number to my Clear account five weeks after it had auto-renewed, so I expected to get back at most 11 months' worth of that fee (the $99 grandfathered DL general-member rate). Instead, Clear refunded the full $99.

Enrolled earlier this week and registered my biometrics at LAX today. Process was simple, but I wasn't used to the fingerprint scanner. Registration took about 5min to get all the biometrics and answer some ID questions. Pre-check line was also empty at the time, so didn't really save any time with Clear, but hope to use this benefit once they setup at EWR.
