I have 2 United Club passes from the Chase card but the only United Club we will be near before they expire is the one in Melbourne. However we will be on a domestic QF flight. On the map, the terminals appear to be in the same building so would we be able to use the passes to get in the United Club is we are on a domestic flight?

Also, does anyone know if there are baggage lockers at MEL?

Air NZ's Koru Lounge is one of the best in the airport (besides QF C&F), I have spent many hours in there gently quaffing a delicious NZ Pinto Noir...

The lounge has a nice feeling and the staff are very friendly - which is welcome as most lounge staff are not the most pleasant folk you can come across!

Enjoy!

Cheers,

AG. :-:

Anyone tried the First Class SQ lounge area?

I think that SQ has a separate First Class lounge section at SYD? Anyone tried that? My wife and I are transiting SYD in a couple weeks in UA GF and were thinking of trying SQ.

Also, did they ever do the remodel of the SQ lounge in SYD as promised a couple years back?

Thanks, AG! Any reports of how the new lounge looks? Any larger or just an update?

I am not sure of the *A rules on this, but should I be granted access to the SQ IFL on an arrival / transit flight (arriving F on UA, but then taking C on NZ since NZ has no F)? Or must you be departing in actual *A F?

EDIT: just saw on *A lounge site that you must depart on intl F. SO I guess SQ lounge is only good for my flights departing SYD to SFO.

According to their site:
SYD SKL will be closed for renovation works from 13 August 2013 to end November 2013.
You are invited to the Air New Zealand Lounge. We regret that customers will not be able to bring a guest.
Conditions will apply for Platinum and Gold Velocity Members travelling in Economy Class, subject to availability.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

I am flying back to the States in GF 3rd week of Dec so hoping it's up and running by then as I'd like to check it out and then head to Air NZ to meet a friend who will be crossing paths in Sydney on the same day.

The SQ lounge is a standard *A lounge, so you can get access when departing on NZ in C - just not to the first class section of the lounge.

However if you're travelling on UA or NZ, they will push you very hard to go to the NZ lounge instead - although I think mostly that's just because most people on UA/NZ that end up in the SQ lounge are actually lost and not going there deliberately - and the NZ lounge is better for most people if only because they have NZ/UA staff there, and they announce the NZ/UA departures. (SQ is before NZ, so it's the first *A lounge you come to)

No, you'll be in a segregated area from an immigration (and liquids security) point of view.

Unless (as is quite unlikely) you are on the domestic tag of a international QF flight, but you'd see those on your reservation as departing & arriving from international terminals.

Anyone see any progress on SQ lounge?

As posted above, SQ is saying closed until end of Nov. I have a flight departing SYD to SFO in F on UA on Nov 23 and was hoping to avoid the crazy crowding of the current Koru club in Syd. Anyone been able to see any progress? Hoping for an early opening.....

My last visit to SYD Koru club was disheartening. No place to sit with my wife, just a few odd single seats. Food gone before it hits the tables. Madhouse of people everywhere. There for 2 hours and it took over an hour before 2 adjacent seats opened up. We just gave up finally and sat in the terminal.

Ok.. I am on one of the early direct 787-8 Services MEL-LAX.. While, yes, the UC in Melbourne is better than any domestic lounge it is a bit dumpy.. What do people think of the Koru lounge in Melbourne? Worth a visit?

You have the choice of SQ, NZ & UA, UA's is the worst of the 3, however NZ's gets crowded and SQ just only renovated its lounge last year, both are pretty good.

If you have time, you can always lounge hop, but if SQ & NZ get too crowded the lounge dragons will tell you to go back to UA.

NZ will be opening a new lounge mid next year on lvl 3 - so watch this space.

Go NZ

NZ lounge offers good wines - the best among *A lounges AFAIK.
I know the flight departure is in the morning, but in my opinion it is worthy to go to NZ lounge just for wine, especially if you are flying economy - as UA economy service charges $$ for poor quality wines.

Please insist you have a friend to meet etc.

Awesome! Thanks folks.
And while it will be morning at the departure point it will be evening at the destination

Interesting

It seems the KC is one of the only business lounges with a any kind of view in the "Bunker"

Lounge access for UA99 in Melbourne Australia?

Hi

99 leaves Mel at 1115am. Plan to get to airport around 9am.

What lounges would be open and available to a Gold+ status person flying Y.

Which have the best food that time of day/

Now that UA has been inconsistently applying the inherit status "rules" will two people on my award tickets also get into the lounge?

Reading back thru this thread the best lounge at SYD for a GF pax is the Singapore Air lounge? Is that still correct?

Thanks in advance...will be there next month.
