Nah, they're more interested in stopping the FAs stuffing bottles of water in their carry-ons passengers stealing all the dirty blankets...

that's very funny, you were assuming I fly coach where other seats are nearby

I don't think these cameras have ultra-wide lenses or 10x optical zoom

I am happy, however, to share pieces of my $1/roll duct tape for anyone who wants to cover their own lenses

I fly regularly on domestic flights in China and was recently on a flight where a uniformed air marshal was patrolling the aisle enforcing the rules on behavior. Mostly to do with cell phone and iPad usage but it was intimidating, to say the least. Cameras are used everywhere in China, your being watched 24/7, it’s simply a fact of life. The internet is severely restricted. No one argues with the government, you follow the rules and do what your told.

Personally I assume that big brother IS out there and don't do anything (well too much) to attract attention.
For me Much ado about nothing.

What confidential things are you saying in your seat that are heard by a microphone on a crowded airplane that isn't heard by the surrounding pax (or annoys them) and that the airline would care.to filter and look for?

With all the perverts (excuse me) security specialists out there trolling the internet why wouldn't they be listening to 'random' microphones in public spaces? How else can you explain all the 'hitmen' caught in stings?

They're stings. The self-described hitmen single themselves out by responding to ads or chatting in internet forums. In this case, someone honestly things someone else is going to bother going through random videos of 200 passengers per flight for hundreds (if not thousands) of flights daily? Really?
