PZ not strictly greater than IN/I?

I booked to TYO for April a week or two ago and had no issues finding space.

I just found one of these, ORD-SFO on a 789, PZ=0 but IN=1. Jumped on it, for a 1.6 cpm redemption, far and away the best value I've gotten in quite some time.

It is at times pretty widespread in the domestic market. Around the time of the OP I looked only at domestic flights and found many examples, so it isn't new to domestic.

Not for those sitting on a glut of Plus Points, which are more perishable and have far fewer use cases than miles.

I have 720 +Ps myself, but also 1.5M miles ... honestly, IN = PN is a major improvement!

UA updated some upgrade inventory on Thursday. For example lots of PZ pop up on TYO-US in March. While it still follow PN=IN, the new trend is PZ=I, I have to say this not look good for 1K.

The worst flight in the entire UA system has to be UA 857 SFO-PVG.

Zero PN, PZ, IN, I space for 330 days.

It's like UA has totally eliminated upgrade inventory on this route.

I challenge anyone who can find one.

I am not surprised based on the current situation of flights between anywhere and China mainland, I have few friends flew 857/858 in the past few months, all upgrades only clear at the gate, even with less than 20 customers in J and on waitlist combined.

It feels like this is a new trend for most flights.
Maybe a way to try to sell more STW and devalue the PP
