This.

I have an upcoming flight that was originally booked on an IPTE 772. When I purchased my ticket, I reserved an aisle seat in row 20, the first E+ row. Knowing UA the way I do, I checked the website at least twice daily to watch for shenanigans. Sure enough, when it became likely that our flight was changed to a Polaris configured bird, they reassigned seats, and I was moved to an aisle seat well back in the E+ range. Fortunately, I was able to change my seat back to row 20 and the new Premium Plus cabin.

I am a 1MM Plat, and was I protected when the airframes changed? Of course not.

One would think that that would be the other way around...
Happened the same way again for the return but now I’m in row 9. Why 1 to 9, who knows. I agree with everyone else, it seems quite random.

On a 767-300, I went from 1D (old config) to 1F (Polaris). YMMV.

Just had my SFO-IAD 5Dec swap from an IPTE to a Polaris 772. The system moved me from 1A to 1A. I'll just hang there in case of a swap back!

I was checked in for seat 1K on IPTE 772 for tomorrow. Just got Polarized to seat 1L. At this point hoping not to get swapped back.

Was in 3 D/E on EWR-HKG in an sCO 772...now in 3 D/G on 77W. Unfortunately 1E was taken on the old seatmap, so 1G is filled already

On a 767-300, my wife and I were swapped from 2A/2B to 2A/2D on our outbound flight. For the return, we were in 2K/2L and were swapped to 2L/3L.

2A on IPTE 777 got moved to 3A on Polaris 777 (with 2A already assigned by the time I checked). Hope the system is smart enough to move me back to 2A if it swaps back to IPTE.

EDIT: EF shows 1A as blocked (for pilot rest perhaps? Can anyone confirm?), so presumably 1A IPTE got moved to 2A Polaris, hence why I in 2A got moved to 3A.

On my flight HKG-ORD last week, 1A was the pilot rest seat. It seemed to me that they had also put 3L as a pilot rest seat as it showed occupied in the map but nobody sat in it during the whole flight

Did you try to change back to an odd numbered seat? When my wife was assigned 2L, she was not very happy but luckily at the gate they gave her 5L. She had asked at check-in but the agent said nothing was available.

Seat Changes due to Retrofitted Swap
12/14/18 ORD-FRA
(4 seats)
777-200 -> N788UA #2888

Original: 1k Status
Economy+: 26A & 26D (3rd to last row in Economy+ section)
Changed to 22A & 22D (Last row of Premium+ section - 3 rows)

Original: Silver Status
Economy+ 26B & 26C (3rd to last row in Economy+ section)
Changed to 32F & 32G (3rd row of front Economy+ section)

With this change to a retrofitted 772, the higher status made it into Premier+ seats automatically and even took consideration of the original arrangement of window/aisle across seat assignments during seat swaps.

No, I had sat in the odd numbered seats before and could have moved further back to do so again, but I wanted to see what the angled seat was like. It was fine, easier for the FA to interact with you, but the odd numbered seats provide a bit more privacy. I have an upcoming IAH-GRU flight on Monday and right now it is to be the new seats. Only 11 out of 30 booked, so if it sticks to the new seats and they assign me to an even seat, I'll probably switch to an odd.

Well, I went from 1D to 1F, however 3L opened up, so switched to that.

I just received an email saying that due to equipment change, my seat had been reassigned from 1D to 5D. This is for Sunday (17 Feb)) CDG-ORD. I assumed this was due to switch from 2-1-2 763 to Polaris 763. Seemed like an odd seat switch. But here's the thing: I go to look at the seamap for my flight and it still shows 2-1-2 763. As do all the "where is the aircraft coming from" seat maps for the few flights prior. So what's happening here? It's possible the aircraft swap reswapped in the 90 minutes between the time I received the email and the time I checked the seat map. Or the cynic in me thinks UA may have caved to some DYKWIA who demanded 1D (the best seat on the 2--1-2 763 IMO) and used the aircraft swap excuse on me. I'm pretty annoyed at the moment.
UPDATE: E-mailed GS (where they promise "personalized response within 4 hours") twice, once on Friday, once yesterday. No acknowledgment, response or explanation. Passenger seated in 1D seems rather nondescript but who knows.

763 - V1 seatmap to V2 translation? Polaris

If my flight goes from non-polaris V1 to V2 with Polaris, what will my seat assignment end up being? I assume there is an exact method United uses.

If I am in 5A on non polaris, what seat will I get on the polaris plane? trying to avoid the angled seats!
