"Hush" money requires that in return for a payment, the individual accepting the money agree not to discuss or disclose the facts. That is typically, although not always, in writing as a NDA.

Without an NDA, the passenger is free to discuss whatever she wants and is hardly "hushed".

Thus, the entire claim of being "hushed" is b.s. Or a better way to put it, the allegation is 50% correct. Yes to money. No to hush.

She should have filed her own complaint with the cops.

She was free to go to the cops on arrival. She didn't. United can't file a complaint for her.

Was an UA employee helping or doing the act in question? If not, what was UA trying to cover up?
