Descriptions of various Business Class seats

Weirdly, this is the first time I have flown UAL long-haul/widebody in a long time (most travel is on foreign flag carriers, AA and some DL; I pretty much gave up on loyalty a while ago and just by the business class ticket that has the best combination of fare and schedule). I am booked in J on a 767-300 and a 767-400. Seat map for both flights is 2-1-2, all forward facing. The seat map on UAL labels this as "Polaris business class" but it seems that this is not actually the new seats. The website seems to only describe the new seats. is there any information online about these older seats?

I know this is a newbie question, so apologies and thanks for indulging me.

It's not the new seat. It's the B/E Diamond seat. Lie flat, but last generation. Also used by AA and DL on their premium transcons (AA 321 and DL 752). As configured in UA's 763 and 764, it's pretty short with a restrictive footwell. Bulkhead seats have more room for your feet.

YMMV? It's indisputably the shortest lie-flat in the UA fleet. Experientially, anecdotally, and according to UA's own published measurements.

1A has the larger footwell so you don't notice it so much.

Topically, TPG has a review of this seat today, and the author (at 5-9) noted that his feet touched the end of the footwell in 1L. Review - United 767-400 LHR-EWR

Yes, YMMV. Just because it's shorter than other seats does not mean everyone will have trouble with it. I always bend my knees when I sleep, so I've never have any problem in any lie-flat seat. Everyone needs to make the determination for themselves.

Some people like to slide down in their seats. I'm sure there are people who can say that of any seat anywhere.

It's a short seat. That's not YMMV. That's a fact.

Bulkheads are best on this configuration.

Since "short" is by definition relative and subjective, that's an opinion. The only fact is that it's short for some people and not for others, just like any seat on any airline.
