UA1490, EWR-ATL, diverted to TYS due to weather. Started with a 2 1/2 hour boarding delay due to aircraft swap, then sat in penalty box at EWR for an hour. Got in the air, diverted to TYS.

Called 1K desk when I landed, got rebooked
onto different set of flights tomorrow, as Atlanta is now useless for me. All good. Overnighting in Knoxville.

thanks for pointing it out ... diverting a 737 to TUS is never good ... for the plane, that is!

Yesterday’s (Aug 9) 810 (ORD-SFO) was a real treat. Original schedule was 12:45-3:20.

First was the SFO ATC delay. Then, once we were fully boarded, we had to deplane due to a problem with the air conditioning. About 30 minutes later, we see the entire crew leave. App shows a departure about 4 hours later (out of gate H3 of all places). Eventually that is revised to 5:30 at C23.

We reboard a different plane and the doors close. We sit for quite awhile because, according to the captain, there is too much traffic on the taxiway behind us. Eventually we push and then sit some more while a thunderstorm rolls through ORD. Eventually we get out of the tangle, taxi around to the south side of the field and sit some more, because we are 25th in line. We move up...and then the captain tells us we are going back to the gate because ATC can’t give us a wheels up time. It had been over 2 hours since they closed the doors.

Back at the gate, we were told to get off. Shortly after, they announced that this plane also had a mechanical, hydraulic leak in the landing gear.

So we wait. They hand out $10 food vouchers but most vendors were now closing. Then we get a gate change for a new incoming plane. We wait for that and finally board about 11...and wait over an hour for the catering truck to show up. We were finally in the air at 12:20 am, on our third plane of the day. I tried to sleep, but I did overhear the purser explaining to the woman across the aisle that while catering loaded the meals, they did not load any utensils for eating them.

Arrived at SFO at 2:20 am.

Not my best day of flying, but I will say that for the most part, the crews and gate agents were really trying hard.

it was originally delayed from 1010am to 120pm because of a late arriving aircraft. But the plane has been in ground since 1230pm, and the delay keeps getting pushed back. Reason is still late arriving.

I know wx is poor in ewr, but no update is given.

I Am on scheduled 335pm departure, and we are prepping to push back on time.
