I think gnawing your own arm off for sustenance would be a more positive change than the post above yours.

Could've been worse - at least it looks like it was served before expiration date.

Depends if you're assuming US or European syntax on dates... :p

Dinner on SMF-DEN on E175 double catered.

Call me ghetto, but I would love to have that with couple of beers.

Too bad UA doesn't have any good beer now!

Also all three of the cheeses kind of taste the same.

They got Shiner Bock- about the only thing about Tejas I miss.

Bumped this since it's been 11 days. Any positive changes seen in Denver catering in last couple of days?

my last 3 flights out of Denver in the past 10 days: no change. Dry Burger DEN-ORD, 2 times almost-cheese plate DEN-YYC

UAPremierGuy Apr 20, 2018 6:20 pm

I purposely did not pay to upgrade out of DEN because of these issues on a recent flight. Ridiculous.

jmcintosh Apr 20, 2018 6:23 pm

YES!

Yesterday I flew home on DEN-YEG in the morning and we had a cold pasta salad with chicken. Not too dissimilar from the sesame dressing salad and edamame of old. Canned pineapple and a chocolate for dessert, but this was a vast improvement over “cheese” (product) tray.

I have no idea if this is relevant to the issues or not.

Pacific Islanders working in United's catering kitchen are trying to unionize in response to low wages and poor working conditions, an act of self-advocacy they say the airline is trying to discourage.

I have positive news to report. Per the FA on my flight today, first class meals are back to almost back to normal now, except for fruit. Fresh fruit is still a challenge but burgers and pizza are no longer the only options. The options today were both hot, beef with vegetables or the 4-cheese ravioli.

I saw that article too. Was wondering why Unite Here's releases made no mention of not working for the past several months. It's kind of curious!?!?!? Unionization efforts started last summer, per the article.

Speaking of this and slight tangent, am I the only one that when I order this, the FA looks at me like I’m speaking a foreign language? I always have to explain “it’s a beer” and often they have to look to see if they even carry it.

I never lived in Texas, but I did think for a while I might be nostalgic for it from my college days, before good beer was a thing. Then I tried it again. :p It is the best of what's aboard now, though.

My strategy for the alcohols with strange names is to say, for example, 'the Shiner Bock beer' or 'the Glenfarclas scotch' (italics to show verbal emphasis). There is usually a moment of hesitation, but net it winds up being a shorter interaction.

That is a sad excuse for a meal, much less "first class dinner". I get that they had to bring it in for the roundtrip but that's just really sad.
