Since it's still over four hours to departure, some standbys have yet to check in.

My wife and I booked 16J/K right when The Points Guy posted the story. We've never been on the upper deck of a 747 before, so this will be a great "first and last" experience!

International, no, there's still a couple months left. Domestic, perhaps, but most of us here think UA will probably give it one or two more special flights.

Certainly not international - UA 747s will continue to operate multiple routes through the end of October (29-Oct). There is speculation there will be a more orderly domestic "farewell flight" afterwards, but nothing confirmed. I think this was a "normal" extra section to position the aircraft and then someone higher up at UA noticed that the F and J cabins sold out practically overnight. They were loaded into the system with last-seat O and I inventory, which is typical of the usual "we had to dump an extra load of seats one week out, doubt we can sell them" approach.

Nt according to flight trackers. UA2582 is due into ORD gate C18 and UA2704 is due out of the same gate a short while after scheduled arrival.

Interesting.. N127UA seems to be on the ground in ORD. Flew in empty from SFO last night. Meanwhile N118UA flew FAT-ADW this morning, and isn't actually assigned to UA2582 yet. I wonder if they.. flew in a backup plane? I'm confused, as they seem to be turning this into much more of an event, maybe after they decided to have some media presence
