flight numbers got mixed up it seems (914/915 is CDG-IAD, 56/57 is CDG-EWR), and 914/915 is operated by a 788 not 789, except yesterday when it seems like the 788 went MX and they had to swap in a 763. So therefore:

12/15 UA914 CDG-IAD 788 delayed 2 hours due to aircraft maintenance
12/15 UA915 IAD-CDG 763 delayed 8 hours due to aircraft maintenance
12/16 UA914 CDG-IAD 763 cancelled due to aircraft maintenance
and
12/15 UA57 EWR-CDG 764 cancelled due to aircraft maintenance
12/16 UA56 CDG-EWR 764 cancelled due to aircraft maintenance

UA4 LHR to IAH on December 13th delayed 7.5 hours due to crew issue.

Fortunately I was able to get on UA879 arriving earlier than UA4 but it definitely messed up my schedule.

Assuming there is no EU261 claimable as I was able to get on an earlier flight?

It is the delay at your final destination that counts compared to what it should have been had you been on UA4 and its scheduled landing time. So, if you arrived at IAH on UA879 >4 hours later than UA4s scheduled landing then 600 euros are due.

Do you happen to know what frame / aircraft # was the LAX-SIN-LAX. I'm betting it will be the cursed #3963 .

Smile United EWr to TXL diverted 20 DEcember 2017 - why?

today I was booked initially to fly TXL to EWR UA 963 but apparently the inbound flight from EWR UA962 was diverted to IAd. That seem a very strange detour. Anybody was on that flight and know what happen? It will land in TXL like 6 hours later

Looks like they switched planes, so perhaps something happened with a maintenance issue and there was a spare 767 in IAD that wasn’t available in EWR. Just a guess

that would make sense although I don't understand why they would have took off from EWR. I was pretty pissed this morning when I saw that my flight will be delayed and I will missconect. I lost my very good upgraded seat 1A Thank God there were some more R space available from MUC to IAd so I got rerouted

Friend was on that flight and said it had a mechanical issue (failed fuel booster pump) near Newfoundland and decided to return to Dulles rather Newark due to aircraft availability. UA website shows it landed at IAD at 11 pm. Flightaware shows it left IAD at 1:59am and is scheduled to arrive TXL at 3:24pm.

UA962 EWR TXL on Dec 20 shows a 7h30 delay due to a mechanical issue over Canada that saw it divert to IAD for a new aircraft and then took off from there at 2am and scheduled to arrive 3:24pm

as a result:

UA963 TXL EWR on Dec 21 shows a 7 hour delay

You can only get EC 261 compensation on flights either:
  • originating in the EU, o,
  • on flights to the EU that are operated by an airline based in the EU
Since this flight was operated by UA and originated in EWR, no EC 261 compensation.
