I'm a 1K (hence *G) flying TPE-SFO in Polaris. The Singapore Airlines lounge in TPE terminal 2 displays the star alliance logo, but I was denied entrance as a UA *G flying UA. The agent told me that they have special permission from star alliance to deny United flyers and send us to the Plaza Premium lounge because of capacity problems. ....Thanks.
I recently took UA872 from TPE to SFO departing 11:10am. I am a 1K and had a paid C Polaris seat. Upon checking at the UA TPE ticket counter, I was notified by the UA CheckIn agent 872 flight pax is to use "Plaza Premium Lounge" instead of Eva lounge for *G and UA Polaris business class ticketed passenger. I thought it was just another option or lounge we can use at TPE. Therefore, I still went to the Eva lounge (designated *G lounge) and tried to enter the lounge. I was denied entrance. The Eva lounge attendant said anyone with UA872 ticket regardless of *G status or business class can not use Eva lounge due to "space limitation". UA contracted with Plaza Premium Lounge for flight 872.
Then I got further clarification from lounge manager that this restriction is only for UA872 ticket passenger. And it's not restricted for another TPE to SFO flight UA852 which departed later during the day at 1:10pm.

On days of every Y fare code is zero, PN is also 0. I wonder by the departure time if UA still keeps PN0 and PZ0? So the flight may take off with empty seats in Polaris while many people have Plus points or miles+copy on wait list. This is a way to force cash upgrade to maximize revenue.

That ABTC line was so hidden at TPE that the only reason I was ever able to find it was because bocastephen told me exactly where to look in another thread. Once I knew where it was, sometimes I still had 'helpers' trying to turn me away while I made me way there. These were the same type of 'helpers' who would see me walking briskly towards the e-gate arrivals upon return and try to escort me to the foreigner line. After the first time explaining "I have an ARC with e-gate" and still being politely ushered away, I learned it was easier to just pretend I didn't understand English or Mandarin and keep breezing forward to e-gate full speed ahead. Same policy for the ABTC line. Never understood why the 'helpers' were so unhelpful!
After the x-ray machine, the line is a convenient place for the far left crew/APEC/diplomatic immigration lines, but for me it's a bit of a hassle since I have Taiwan Global Entry, as I have to make my way past all the staffed immigration counters to get to the e-gates on the right side. In Terminal 2, I use the APEC line on the far right side with crew and never had a problem.
I've had agents try to help me with the e-gate readers with the common passport placement problem, even when they can clearly see I have a U.S. passport.

For those with a similar issue, you can follow my advice from this post once e-Gate access returns.
No longer a Taiwan resident, so when I go back to visit (i.e. when they start issuing tourist visas again), I'll just pop through the APEC line with my ABTC. e-Gate was wonderful, though! Probably saved me 60 hours of time over the couple of years that I used it during frequent business travel.

That is helpful! I always had problems using my US passport with e-Gate. Usually I just popped my ARC in there and it worked.

EVA lounges: https://www.evaair.com/en-us/fly-pre...rt/the-garden/, last time we visited both The Infinity and The Star, we were disappointed at mediocre food selection.

Which terminal, 1 or 2? If terminal 2, do you have Priority Pass that allows you to visit lounges: https://www.prioritypass.com/lounges...international? Plaza Premium is back. Oriental Club is good.
