Hi all - trying to see if I can get my boss upgraded from J to F on an upcoming NH flight.
* Booked as UA codeshare (D). I understand this would need to be manually swapped to the NH prime flight, but there is no D inventory currently, so I'm guessing this isn't possible without re-faring? * Will changing the flight number (and/or successfully upgrading the flight) result in NH (or UA) taking over the ticket, such that our corporate TA won't be able to make further changes? E.g., to the return segment? If the TA re-issues as NH prime, will they also still retain control if the upgrade clears? * Any way to see availability in advance? Is it based on a saver award availability via the NH program? Flight currently F1 A1 and several weeks away so I'm guessing this is all probably moot unless there are cancelations. Thank you. |
Need to convert flight numbers, must have inventory. No problem on corporate TA ticket and TA can still handle ticket (in my experience). If you see 'O' available then it should clear right away. F1A1 has a <10% chance of clearing

Flight now F2 A0, so maybe 15% chance? :) |

Thanks, where do you see "O" inventory? I don't see it on EF, Flight Availability or Awards & Upgrades.

Just want to confirm: The upgradable UA economy fare classes (to Premium Economy) on a United-issued, ANA-operated ticket are B, E, G, M, U and Y? United's W would not be upgradable? Edit: Actually, now I'm thinking these aren't UA fare classes because O and A aren't listed. If the latter is correct, what does W on UA convert to at ANA? |

AFAIK, you can't use PlusPoints to upgrade to NH-operated PE. (The Wiki says the same thing). The upgradable economy classes for NH are Y, B, M, U. The other two are PE classes on ANA: G = UA O and E = UA A. |

O and A upgrades have chance to move from purchased PremEconomy to Business (to the exclusion of R). I had just assumed that economy upgrades go to PE. I guess R's priced so low that they stay where they are whereas M and U upgraders get to leapfrog them?

Any thoughts on how the waitlist priority is handled?
I had two separate itineraries one for myself and another for a colleague. Both booked in the same class. My colleagues was converted to NH flights first and applied/requested the PP upgrades. I then processed mine. I have 1K/*G but my colleague has no status. Now I see that my upgrade has cleared but theirs is still waitlisted. Does FF status play into the priority? It seems time of addition to the list is a secondary consideration? |

I would guess *G might count, but 1K (in itself) would not. Example: a United Plat and a 1K would both be seen as *G by ANA, w/ no upgrade priority over one another based on UA status alone. Just guessing here….

Was trying to use PP to upgrade another NH flight. In the process of converting the UA codeshare to NH native, the agent said they were unable to do so since there was no Z inventory for NH even though I had booked Z with the UA codeshare.
Is this a HUCA or could this really be the case that UA is selling Z, but NH is selling D (that is the fare bucket that had availability that they quoted me if I wanted to convert the flight number). |

What are the AP rules for UA Z vs NH Z? Wonder if UA can use continuous pricing on codeshares? |
