UA on some routes displays a strange seatmap of only 8F seats but stating the aircraft to be used as one that has more F seats. Such as a 737-800 that actually has 16 F seats or a 737-900 which will have 20 F seats. There are similiar issues with the economy seatmap.
It has been surmised by this community that this is a placeholder seatmap (generic narrowbody) and the actual aircraft will be adjusted later based on sales and the correct seatmap will be eventually be displayed as the aircraft utilization is worked out.
The only UA mainline aircraft with 8 F seats is the A319.

737-x00 - seatmap showing fewer F seats (such as only 8) ???

Weird 737-900 seat map
Apologies if this is a repost, I searched and couldn’t find on mobile.
i just booked my first flight (after a year of no flying), and the 737-9 shows only two rows of first. Did UA reconfigure their planes? Only 8 seats?!

737-900, 4 rows First?
Don't fly UA often, but looking at IAD-PUJ, flight is operated by 737-900 with 4 rows in First/Business and cannot find the aircraft type on United's website, all show 5 rows of First/Business.

Any info?

Seat maps that don't map exactly to the aircraft type normally mean that they are keeping their options open for a change to a different aircraft or config (in this case, probably a 737-800).
If they don't make the change, the extra seats will appear sometime before departure (often 72 hours, but it varies). If they do, the aircraft type will change to (say) a 737-800, and nobody has to have their seats reassigned as those in row 5 were never allocated.

Was looking at dates in August. The image I believe is from August 3 or 4, but was looking at flights / pricing throughout the month of August and seat maps all looked the same.

Yeah, nothing to see here. Lots of flights, several months in advance have a “least common denominator “ seat map that is used until the actual aircraft is determined. If it’s in August, the actual aircraft type with its matching seat map should appear around May or so (these days, schedules are generally firm about 2.5-3.5 months ahead.

probably true - just surprised they set it up to happen at all. There used to be some of these LCD seat maps that truly were - wonder why this isn’t.
