Are these CPU-eligible flights?
No -- no CPU on these flights. It will take RPU/GPU/mileage+copays to upgrade. Generally, these are "hard" upgrades.

Are TODs / Cash upgrades offered?
Yes, $298 cash OW upgrades are regularly offered.

No and no, though most frequencies are operated with lie-flat 16J 752s. 753 also thrown into the mix 1x daily.

There are 16J 752s on this route, no 753, except in irop situations. Not a p.s. route though.

So on my upcoming flight from Boston to LAX nonstop, the meal service won't have the ice cream sundae and pre arrival wraps? Based on the menu from my LAX - EWR - LAX flight 2 weeks ago, I thought it was the same menu.

Boston is listed on that menu because BOS-SFO is a premium transcon route, but not BOS-LAX.

Today both UA240 (EWR-LAX) and UA2418 (LAX-EWR) are 773 instead of scheduled 787-10. I've noticed UA240 has been a 773 on at least one other occasion this week. UA2418 has otherwise consistently been a 787-10. I'm curious whether this is maintenance driven or they need the larger bird for cargo demand?

maintenance and schedule disruptions w/ East coast storms. They had quite a few swaps this week.

In addition, there's an over-supply of 777s with the India flight disruptions. So lots of backfilling as the MAX flights are supplied with other aircraft, such as 752s. It's matter of meeting demand with supply, and UA has a whole department that works those things out on both a long-term and short-term basis.

I was on a late evening EWR departure and was surprised that the meal was so bad. Chinese chicken salad or a cheeseburger. No nuts, no appetizer, no dessert. The evening transcons on AA get virtually full meal service. Is this the norm or was this a miscater?

That's a snack

UA does not serve a full meal on the premium t-cons for departures after 8 p.m.

After 9 PM, not 8 PM for premium transcon.

Gross. Flew E+ LAX-EWR recently and I found the omelette nearly inedible. I didn’t eat the potatoes, maybe they were ok. I’ve become more nutrition/health conscience recently and the dish isn’t worth the calories. Other passengers seemed satisfied, but I would recommend eating on the ground if possible.

Forgot to add, some of the fruit were rotten. YMMV
