I suspect this plane's next "flight" was to a maintenance hangar to have it's nose gear thoroughly cleaned and inspected.

I just read where an OZ plane at Hiroshima skid off the runway. The amusing part was in their statement they listed the nationality make up of plane's pax. I had to double check because I thought it meant it was so severe people died!

This FOX reporter, Ashley, on Facebook is demanding compensation from UA and even included the hashtag #iwantarefund. I don't get it. They walked away from it with no injuries. The pax interviewed said UA and HFD kept everyone calm and there was an orderly evac of the plane. Unless there's some negligence on the part of UA or the pilot, I'm more of the mind if I were in that situation to count my blessings, kiss the wife, and move on... Sounds like the weather was pretty poor.

I felt for the pilots on that flight.
Did Gordon do anything like apologize , etc.?

Left seat pilot error.

If she was connecting, this could have been a big deal. When do you think she was at her next gate? When do you think her bags were offloaded? I can easily imagine how this turned into a trip in vain, entirely United's fault, and if I were in that situation, I'd want a good answer from United on why they get to keep my money.

Looks like whatever damage there might have been has been fixed as according to the flight status, goalie-parents are flying this bird FLL-IAH on April, 22nd as UA1164*

*and I think I'll tell goalie-parents they're flying a celebrity after they arrive back in SFO later that day

I waited until we landed at NRT to let my Mom know that I was so antsy with our take off from SFO because of UA's 747 mx issues.
The look on her face.
I rolled with it and said "No no not like the engines and stuff like that the planes are just old and it's things like the bathroom water lines taking a few hours to fix."
