Same PNR, Different FF?
So here's what I'm looking at (this might not belong 100% to the MP forum, but I've arrived at this question due to MP rules)...
I'm used to AC MP rules which basically any Star Alliance fare gets you 1 segment and 50% miles. I'm switching to UA and have been looking at partners and finding out what's what. I love the UA 100% earning on cheap fares, and the network is much better than AC which means flying UA isn't exactly hard.
That said, I want to go to Moscow in 2015 and I was scouring ITA for fares finding that almost everything booked into K class.
Many routes were useless as they'd be like YVR-ORD-ZRH-DME where ORD-ZRH-DME would earn 0. So I thought ok, start whittling it down and grab only UA flights like YVR-ORD-IAD-ZRH-DME with only ZRH-DME not earning.
So a couple questions,
1. If you guys are doing a mileage run, or even just planning a leisure/business trip, I'm assuming that's kinda what you do, just make sure as much AC metal is there as possible if you're buying the cheapest fare.
2. Is it possible to associate a 2nd FF# with a PNR? IE: credit YVR-ORD-IAD-ZRH to my MP account and credit ZRH-DME to me Aeroplan account because there it would still earn 1 segment and 50%?
Thanks folks,

1) When crediting to MP 3/1/15 onwards on UA flights or tickets then miles are earned based on $$$ paid not miles flown
2) Yes, with *A you can change earnings for each segment of a trip. Just go the Swiss counter in Zurich and ask them to update the FQTV#.

Today it appears the program in the PNR at time of posting is what determines the program used -- not the program at time of flight. This is further complicated posting is determined by the flight operator.
The days of segment by segment posting selection has gotten very complicated and perhaps too difficult to bother with.

Credit different segments of same itinerary to different programs
With the new rules I've found it advantageous to do this for a rtw itinerary that I'm on.
Are there any pitfalls to watch for?
I'm trying to keep it simple: SQ segments to SQ; all others to UA

I once did DEN-NRT-SIN. Due to a delay that made me miss the connection, UA put me on a DL NRT-SIN flight. I got UA credit for the DL NRT-SIN flight but I strongly believe that I would have been able to get DL credit instead of UA credit. The DL ticket was probably some kind of Y or B fare too.

Double dipping when different alliances is very possible. Different alliance are relatively easy to manage but as sbm12 mentions, same day, using *A airlines it becomes problematic since it appears the account used for credit is the one in the record at some point after the flight, not necessarily the one at flight time.

The key to managing this is to understand how the system works.
Generally, the owner of the PNR (the airline who booked it) pushes FF info down to all carriers. The other carriers do not push info up to the owner.
So if you buy a UA/LX ticket, through UA, and you want the UA segments to credit to UA and the LX segments to AC, you put the UA MP in the booking, contact LX, change the FFN to AC, and it should stick there without impacting the UA segments.
However, if you change the flights at all through UA, you may have to reapply what you did.

Just realized a possible snag that might render moot my strategy:
