Currently booked on the 767 with a 2x1x2 configuration. We have two seats on the left but I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to take one aisle and the middle across from each other. Any thoughts? I've never flown this aircraft before.

Second that - though #1 has one thing going for it: in the middle quad, the armrest can be lowered, to (very!) roughly approximate a sleeper for two. Which may or may not be desirable.
I would stick with what you have - the seats in a row do not line up exactly (so it might be a bit of a hit or a miss), and even if they did, you would have a choice of facing away (and far) from each other, or looking at each over an obstacle.

Take the seats you have, unless aisle access is a huge priority for you. Keep in mind that with a window seat in your pair, you get some control in how much early morning sunlight/glare others around you have to put up with.
Kinda hard to watch the IFE when it's washed out by glare and you look over to see the sun worshiper snoozing away behind the window (and thus not affected by this).

How is this different from the thread you started yesterday?

For dates I checked, going through GRU and then to IAH on the 3-class 777 each way would be $2700 r.t. Fortaleza to LAX. Going through GIG and IAH on the 2-class 777 each way would be $3700 r.t. Going to LAX through GIG and IAh on the 2-class 777 and returning via EWR and using the 2-class 767 would cost $3200. Late last week, first class on the 3-class 777 was only $400 more than biz r.t., but that disappeared. Since then, fares have gone up and down.
No option to go through EWR (767) each way showing on United.com, and when I called UA, the agent said she could only give me options showing on United.com (there is a flight from GRU to EWR on that date, but it doesn't come up among options to LAX). Right now leaning towards going via GIG and IAH and returning via EWR.
My wife would not tolerate facing backwards (doesn't even like to sit that way on a subway train). We could, of course, select seats to avoid that, though seat selection isn't necessarily guaranteed, and there seem other drawbacks to the 3-class 777.
BTW, we found biz class on the Delta 767s quite roomy. US Airways option perhaps the roomiest we've taken, but their fares have gone way up.

On a plane it is different from a land vehicle with windows, there is no frame of reference or acceleration forces to even sense you are "backwards" (except at takeoff or landing). .

This. I prefer the backwards facing seats, as it counteracts the slight nose-up pitch of the plane in flight. More severe on the 747, but true none the less on both planes.
That said, the concept of a middle seat in very cramped long haul business class is insane, unless there is a big fare difference.
First world problems I suppose.

The middle seat thing is interesting. It really is bizarre when you sit in it and eat a meal. Don't feel like you're in business class at all. But put on the eyeshades, put in the earplugs, fold out the bed, and I get a great sleep in them. And that's the part that matters to me, so ultimately that 2-4-2 middle seat is better than the vast majority of the pmCO seats for me.
Did have an amusing experience returning from FRA earlier this year. German gentleman was next to me, both of us in the middle of the 4. Me on a last-gasp upgrade, him on a full fare ticket apparently. He found his seat and started cursing away. "I paid for business class, why are you giving me an economy seat? And this seat is backwards" Didn't let up till they moved him to a forward facing aisle after a no-show. Guessing he'll be flying angled-flat on LH next time...
Fair point. I'm a touch over 6'2" and size 13. I tend to sleep fully stretched out, and there simply isn't enough length on the 764 at all, and on the 2-class 777 while the bulkhead is awesome, the other seats are a struggle. On the 3-class 777 and 747 on the other hand I sleep beautifully (except on the 747 upper deck sadly, where the seats are shorter).

Intl BusinessFirst 764 vs. 777 (new config)
Apologies if this has been covered (I am sure it has). I did search the forum but didn't come across anything in my results.
I'm looking for thoughts on going with a routing down to Brazil on the 777-200 with the new BusinessFirst cabin or sticking with the older 764. Have not experienced either. I'm 6'0" 195lbs if that matters. Don't love the idea of climbing over people, but it's a redeye and I'm going to sleep so I'd take a window if I was on the 777-200, get my business done and tuck in. There is currently one center (single) seat available on the 764 so I could take that there.
Thoughts?
TIA

is this 777 the old UA 3-class, or the CO-style 2-class configuration? (you say 'new BusinessFirst Cabin', but that can mean various things.
Personally I choose 777 over 767, as I enjoy being in the larger plane. But, the seats (provided it's the CO-style BusinessFirst seats) should be the same.
I usually choose one of the middle seats, on either plane (on the 777 both seats in the middle have aisle access), but I find little difference between the two.
