Smile ATL Improvements

Spring brings better ATL situation:

All flights will be in T concourse with new United club--starting in Jan.
No more 50 seaters to any city starting in March
New mainline to IAH, DEN, ORD starting in March

by city:

IAH 7 1 mainline 6 175's
Ord 8 2 mainline 4 175's 2 700's
EWR 6 6 mainline
Den 3 1 mainline 2 700's
Sfo 2 2 mainline
IAD 3 3 700's

the switch to bigger planes begins to show. With 12 mainline- a big change
with from a low of 3 earlier in 2014.

If it all happens, glad to see UA actually getting serious about competing vs. DL. ^

It took DL poking UA in UA's heart (i.e. SFO-LAX shuttle) to get these improvements for ATL. UA is so reactionary.

Are they reopening the old RCC or are they taking over the AA club, assuming AA will be moving in with US in D.

New club

The new club will be on the upper level (roof) and the area has been under construction since June. It has nothing to do with the old club or the American club.

In the new gate area United will have 3 mainline gates and 2 RJ gates for a total of 5 compared to 3 in the past. This is due to an extension and reconfiguration of the concourse. It will have no impact on the American gates.
United will exit the D gates at that time.

IME, the north and south security checkpoints are quicker than the main checkpoint and it's nice to exit security and be in your departing terminal without riding the train.

ORD-ATL is 1 mainline with 2 on ATL-ORD.

Nice to have a 6am to ATL and a late same day return.

But, I think I'll still fly my 7am ORD-ATL DL 757 and the 7pm 757 return.

1 daily is still not competitive. I'm shocked how EWR gets 6 daily though.

Looking forward to the new lounge, though the old one was not without its charms either. Having all flights use the T Concourse is great though.

The AAgents at ATL have all said that US will be moving into the AA concourse. Would make sense, as they've got an AC over there. The US gates are also horrible cramped.
