Nope. Some were direct flights through to Asia on that same flight number. In 2008 I flew UA 891 JFK-LAX, for example. I don't remember where that flight number continued on to/from, but it did.

893 also used to be a p.s. route because the flight number continued on to NRT.

UA29 will always be my favorite though. The 8:29pm JFK-LAX p.s. flight.

It also seems like some of the ORD/LHR and ORD/FRA pairs have been around for quite a while.

Just curious; thanks.
UA is quite old.

Flight 1 - the Coast to Coast Limited - used to operate:

New York
Cleveland
Toledo
Chicago
Iowa City
Des Moines
Omaha
Lincoln
North Platte
Cheyenne
Rock Springs
Salt Lake
Elko
Reno
Sacramento
Oakland

Note: Leg 1 - New York to Cleveland - was operated by a New York Central train. Aircraft west of Cleveland.

I am not sure if that was its original routing, but certainly prior to ORD-HNL.

Fascinating timetable. 20 minute flights from Seattle (I assume what is now Boeing Field) to Tacoma (perhaps a field near McChord?), as part of the 11 hour flight from Seattle to San Diego!

Roughly 15 minutes to fly from Dallas to Fort Worth. Come to think of it, on his last day, didn't JFK and entourage fly from Fort Worth to Dallas on Air Force 1?

881/882 - ORD-NRT has held on for a long, long time.

Gone are the classics like 500 (ORD-IND) or 1492 (ORD-CMH)...

BFI-TCM was likely the route. BFI was Seattle's main airport since being built in 1928. SEA was only constructed in 1944 after the U.S. military took over BFI for the war effort.

There is little traffic on BFI-TCM today, but BFI-SEA sees traffic regularly. Flight times are generally about 10-15 minutes, except for proving flights which may take hours:

Yes, FTW-DAL was the President's last flight. There is still a fair amount of traffic on DAL-FTW/FTW-DAL. Some flights are longer, but 15 minutes seems to be about the norm:

Here is a link to Continetal's first stand-alone schedule (apart from its Varney cousin, United):

CO 1 operated:

Denver
Colorado Springs
Pueblo
Santa Fe
Albuquerque
El Paso

UA891 was JFK-LAX-NRT-(maybe) ICN for awhile.

Hardly a glamorous one but UA 6528 has been flying LAX-PHX since at least 2004 (when I first noticed it after taking it).

UA895/896 between ORD and HKG have been around since 1996 if this article can be trusted:

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-stop_flight

It seems there should be some really old numbers.

These are old numbers, but definitely not the oldest.

857/858 used to be ORD-SFO-PVG, that is before ORD-PVG nonstop, with ORD-SFO was also using a 744, 10am ORD departure !

881/882 used to be IAD-ORD-NRT-BKK.

895/896 used to be EWR-ORD-HKG-SIN.
