A couple months ago I logged into the United Android app on someone else's phone using my login info (because my phone was stolen) giving his phone access to view my itineraries, etc. Just tonight I was talking to him and he mentioned that he saw other itineraries I had booked recently because he's able to view all my reservation info on the app.
I had forgotten I logged into the UA Android app on his phone and assumed he long ago had just logged me out but he didn't. This isn't a a major problem for me in this instance..I'm not worried about him doing anything dishonest. Yet I still want him logged off (I asked him to but I'm not sure he will). I went online and changed both my PIN and user passwords. However when going back on my own Android phone to test this out it allowed me to access all information without making me login again and re-enter my changed password/PIN..even after re-starting my phone...which means he can can do the same without re-authenticating. I'm not concerned about him committing any kind of fraudulent transactions but I would really like to be able to force him to log off. Is this possible??? |

I am not sure it will force log him out when he updates the app when there is a next release.

But if you want to change something, create a new reservation, use award points, etc. then you have to log in.

I trust my friend to not make any reservation or seat changes or attempt to book something under my name. But I do not trust him to logout at my request. Our friendship is complicated, OK?
What's done is done.. it's my fault for logging in to his phone but at the time I needed the help. Opinions on my choice of logging in to his phone or that I should just get him to log out are not needed in this thread..both are obvious and I completely get it. I was just wondering if there was a possible way to force a log out. Thanks to all who have replied. And on another note..this message is a long time coming.. mahasatmatman has been a key contributor in this forum for a long time. He took a hiatus awhile back and when I noticed he had been gone awhile I sent him a private message just to see what was happening..and he replied it was just a choice of his to take a break for his own reasons. I noticed he's been back for some time now and I just wanted to say welcome back, mahasamatman. You have a lot of good info to share with us. I haven't been to any DO's and have only casually met a couple FTers by chance over the years so my experience with community members are here in the forums...and having experienced and helpful folks like mahasamatman around makes this a great place to visit. |

Why does he even have the app if he doesn't use it to check his account?

Because I do all the work for him. He cares, but knows that if I'm looking out for him he has no worries.

Gotcha. Thanks. Guess you also put his reservations in your account, so it makes sense that he could use your login as well.
And really it's not that big of a deal that he can see my bookings..but I also book travel for other people including business travel for people he doesn't even know..and when I do I save those reservations to my account. So he can see everything. Again....I am not worried about any kind of fraud or dishonesty from this friend. I would just like to have the control to be able to log him out. If that doesn't happen life goes on and everything will be fine. There are other situations that I can envision where it might not be OK...like an abusive spousal relationship and they have access to each others' info on their phones. I don't know. It just needs fixing. |
United Android App - Reservations don't update
I'm currently running the United App (V2.0.18) on Android (Galaxy S5), and I've noticed that my existing reservations don't seem to ever update to reflect changes.
I had a change to a flight (changed from Wednesday to Thursday) and noticed the change shows up on the website, on my iOS app on iPad and on my wife's iPhone.... but no amount of hitting refresh on the Android app makes the reservation update. Same goes for making seat changes on another reservation. While the seatmap in the app accurately will reflect my seat, the actual reservation page never shows changes. Am I the only one experiencing this? |
Works fine for me. Try logging in and out.

Same version on my HTC One M8 and as I flew over the weekend, it updated my Boarding Pass and Reservation when my CPU cleared at about T-2.
I did notice that that the Account Balance did not update until I drilled into my activity. The refresh did not do it. I had to drill into my activity and when I returned to the home screen the Account Balance was then updated. |

Tried that, no luck. I ended up having to "clear application data" in the app manager. After that the reservation loads correctly. Hopefully this will solve the issue going forward.
Thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind for now. |
