UA/Star Business Deals to Europe

United seems to be attacking the SkyTeam hubs in Europe for summer business class fares. Look at CDG and AMS. I booked VPS-IAH-FRA-AMS for a 5 day trip for $1630. I could have booked for under $1500 and flown VPS-IAH-AMS but chose to book the LH A380 over the UA flights (btw if this was a bad decision let me know. I'm not really familiar, but I see that most LH A380s have "old Biz"). Hope this works for some of you.

To give proper credit, I discovered these through this thread started by underattack. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...rope-july.html

Edit: If you can position to a DL hub that seems to open up a lot more European cities for the ~$1500 price point. I saw this effect with ATL, MSP, and DTW.

Cheap Business Class Fares (NOT April Fools)

I got an alert from First Class Flyer that United is offering $1450 Business Class Fares to Europe from Delta hub cities. I'm a Delta Diamond Medallion and live in Atlanta.

Apparently Delta put up some low cost biz class fares this AM and pulled them quickly. United matched the fares and as of 30 minutes ago they were still there.

I just booked my family of 5 in biz class to Paris for $1550 each. I do have to go through EWR outbound and YYZ return -- so the flights are not direct--but given that I had to buy 5 tickets and not just me, well worth the savings.

I tried Copenhagen and Paris as destinations. Don't know which other European cities are covered.

No need to get to a DL hub. Just get out of a UA hub. These fares are WIDELY available outside the UA hubs. More destinations are available from those hubs, however.

And destinations on the Europe side are broad as well, not just SkyTeam hubs.

The base fare of $250 each way is lower than the cheapest coach fares in many markets.

Fare is valid June 27 - September 4. There is a 60-day a/p and Saturday night stay required. No stopovers permitted.

And it covers routes far broader than just SkyTeam hubs. It does not work originating in UA hubs, but most hubs have alternate airports nearby (e.g. MKE, BWI, HPN, ABE, COS, SMF, SJC, BUR, SNA, AUS, SAT, etc.).

I saw SAT-AMS for a range of dates in July for $1470. Looked like it also worked as an open jaw CDG/AMS. Tempting.

I'm in for a MR to keep 1K for next year. Works from my little MBS Airport, probably because DL is the dominant carrier.

$1480 to Rome. Same-day turn. Leave Saturday, arrive Sunday AM, 2 hours later, back on the same a/c to EWR. No time off work and no hotels.

About $0.09 cost per EQM. ^ Really good deal for a paid business class seat. Fare is P class, and books as a P fare--no underlying economy fare from what I can see.

Holy Smoke!

I just booked r.t. OGG-SFO-IAD-FCO in June all the way in P for $1486!!!!

Edit: $1486.80.
Fare was $500, taxes/fees $986.80
5.4 cents/pqm for paid business.

..and to think I was searching for R availability to use some GPUs...

..too bad a lot of people are asleep - snooze, you lose...

I think UA is narrowing the loophole down. I can only get the cheap Ps into the DL hubs (AMS and CDG).

Thank goodness SJC is considered a Delta "hub." Not looking forward to a 6:49am flight out, but since $1700 has been the pricing for Y, $1569 looks pretty darned good for C. Waiting for it to formally book...

Bingo. Done. 2 passengers, 7/17-7/28 SJC-CDG & return. $3133.60 all-in. $500 each base fare, $1066.80 taxes & fees. Good thing I don't need PQMs!

First time, ever, in paid C. Never thought that would be something I could afford. OK, this year, United gave me something I like!

Into, not out of. As in, "into AMS and CDG." Although I'll be pleased to here that others are still able to get these fares "into" other European cities.
