I assume delay in customs means that when they parked the plane at the A terminal, it's technically within the customs area and all the stuff aboard that gets taken off has to go through customs, so the plane waits until released? Wonder what kind of delay that was? Something suspicious on the plane itself?

It looks more like an aircraft swap. The inbound for UA 139 DEN-NRT on 11/2 was UA 138 (N20904) which is scheduled to arrive at 12:25PM. It arrived at 12:09PM, but UA 139 is suppose to depart at 12:05PM.

It looks like the rotation for UA 139 is IAHDENNRT. IAH-DEN looks to be UA 1126 (N29907) at least on 11/3. I checked UA 1126 on 11/2 and it shows as being cancelled due to a necessary replacement of aircraft and flight number. Ask a UA representative for details.

I spoke to the Global Service Desk and both told me it was due to some customs delay thing. but what u just showed makes much more sense.

Maybe it's too cold in FRA for your aircraft to land

Weight Restricted Inbound to DEN Due to Cold?

Today 11/3 UA 104 IAH-MUC is cxld. Reason: a/c maintenance.
Inbound UA 105 made it fine.
Not sure if this is somehow related to the MUC flight issues discussed above ....

yeah, the same old MUC issue. Will be on that flight in a few days ... hope they fix their stupid 764 problems What can you book these days? 744 is terrible, the 752s break all the time, 772 is no better ... what gives? Maybe 788 these days

Probably another excuse just to skirt around having to compensate for issues within their control. It's been well documented how mechanical delays have turned into "weather" or "atc" delays.

Similar thing happened to me earlier this year, DEN>NRT on 139. There was an ice storm in IAH that affected everything. 138 had arrived and was at Terminal A. Announced that we would be a bit late as the 788 that had arrived was going to be used as 139 (skipping the trip to the IAH Mothership). The interesting part (observed from the UA Club) was that rather than tow the plane from A to B, they pushed back, fired up the engines, taxied <1,000', marshaled into the gate, and stopped. Seemed like a very expensive way to get from A to B (sic).

Tg 676 bkk - nrt

I'm monitoring my wife's return trip from Thailand, and I just saw her flight TG 676 from BKK to NRT departed 52 minutes late. She is scheduled to connect at NRT with UA 138 to continue on to DEN. Under perfect conditions she would have 2:05 hours, and now she will be curtailed by nearly one hour. Understanding that one has to exit and re-enter the sterile area at NRT, I am concerned about her making the United connection. Any thoughts or comments by anyone who experienced this scenario recently? Thanks.

I don't think your wife has to enter and exit full security/get bags etc...I think she will just have to go through another quick security check. When I was flying through they had signs with specific flights and an express lines for those pax on tight connections. I think having 1:15 will be fine.

Thanks JVPhoto. Let's see what happens. Maybe the TG flight will make up some time and she lucks out. My concern is she is on a 388 and that puppy carries a lot of pax. I'm crossing my fingers!

According to Flightaware she should land around 4:05 (Google says 4:15) and UA 138 is scheduled for 5:55. Hopefully she can get off the whale in a good amount of time and even then it seemed pretty "busy" when I was going through re-screening at NRT but didn't take more than like 20 minutes and I wasn't in the rushed line. Assuming you have no way of getting in touch with her it should be pretty obvious when she is approaching security if they are shouting and have signs for the UA flights (which they did in my case for ORD and IAD.

LOL - as we taxied to the runway the reasons for the delay were as follows:

1. Delayed due to a change in aircraft (estimated to depart 15 minutes late)
2. Delayed due to a change in aircraft (estimated to depart 13 minutes late)
3. Delayed due to aircraft preparation (departed gate 13 minutes late, taxiing to runway)

Fortunately we had good winds and we landed in FRA just a few minutes late - unfortunately my connecting flight was in terminal B - and we arrived at A. OMG I hate that long walk, then take a train, then another long walk, then go through security, set off scanner, endure cavity search, get dressed, and finally arrive at the Senator lounge, fight with attendant to get an LH BP bc my UA bp never works in the automated gates, and sit down and rest (this is rest to me lol) before I head to gate to get on bus packed in with 90 of my closest friends to drive out to my A320 parked in a different timezone.

Isn't travel glamorous? Bitter - party of one checking in....
