United charging 5000 extra miles to change day of departure award ticket
I am a UA 1k checked in on a transcon business class Standard Award departing today. I am trying to change the date on ua.com. There is obviously no fee but the website is pricing a new business award at 5000 miles and a standard coach award at a refund of 20000 miles.
Is this something new? A mistake? Please help. Time is short.

just cancel and redeposit the old ticket -- no fee for 1K, and book a new one -- no short notice fee for 1K -- if the new one doesn't quote at proper rate, call reservations and have them look into it.
op is suggesting that the website is quoting him/her 5000 miles higher than the advertised rates in order to get the bookings of standard coach and biz awards domestically.
op paid 50,000 o/w for standard biz award, and when changing the website wants to collect 5000 more miles. when changing to a standard coach award, website wants to refund only 20,000 miles instead of 25,000 -- thus again shorting him/her 5000 miles.

I called and they changed it at no charge. Took three minutes. Thanks!
