Decoding award types
There been some recent discussion on award types, so thought was time to have a reference thread on decode the award types -- some of my recent ones have been WB52, WF52, WB20, YB48, ...
Additionally some info gems have been found in the "fare rules" for these award types. So, let's build a list of award types and some parameters related to them (suggest input format): WB52 -- found on a OW USA-Europe saver business class award - including partner flights - pre Feb 1 2014 travel WF52 -- found on a OW USA-Europe saver F 3-cabin class award - including partner flights - pre Feb 1 2014 travel WB20 -- found on a OW domestic saver F class award - including partner flights - pre Feb 1 2014 travel add other info you think is relevant Also if you have an award fare rules not previously listed post them (these may change with time) Please delete the long "Flight Application section" since this is likely to be the same for all rules. (But leave in the restrictions listed on spanning regions/countries at the very end of the fare rule) Imbedded the rules in in a CODE section to prevent too long of postings Use the wiki to summarize findings. Not sure where this will go, but it should be interesting *** UPDATE 4 Feb 2014**** The award fare codes have appeared to completely changed with the new Feb 2014 redemption rates. I have archived the previous wiki collection in Post #2. So its a full reset, lets start the collection again Post your award fare codes in the wiki or thread Fare code -- OR or RT, saver / standard, cabin, UA award regions, UA only / partner award, miles You can find the award fare code in the booking confirmation e-mail (the first e-mail if done on united.com) or after selecting flights but before traveler info select "View Rules and Restrictions" Bonus points for thoses that also post the fare rules (use Code BB command to post, not QUOTE). We can link the wiki listing to the fare rules for future reference. let the games begin again! |

Wikis don't require administrators to make them. :) I'm adding one above.
I think with wikis now we can avoid the reserved post stuff, but I could be wrong. I'd suggest everyone just add theirs to the wiki, unless they don't have enough posts. |

yes, but did you know what the codes meant or what the related fare rules were? The purpose here is collect all the random pieces of info and consolidate in one place.
Wiki creation is under "Thread Tools." :) |
Just added:

at the very bottom - after "flight application", there are restrictions listed on spanning regions/countries - I think thats very important in understanding the limits on stops/stopovers. I noticed you had them cut-off probably as part of FA pruning.

Hi,
YC52A for RT Saver Y CDG-SFO/SFO-HNL/HNL-SFO-CDG (post Feb. 2014 travel, booked last Oct., 65K) Code:
Rules and Restrictions |
Updated wiki with all recent enteries. THANKS for all the submissions
We have a few disagreements / inconsistencies -- more enteries will help resolve those. Remember provide - RT or OW - award type saver/standard/upgrade - cabin - O/D region (use UA's region titles, eg not asia but northern asia) - optional add any pertinent extra info such as mileage, stopover, partner, .... And if you happen to capture the fare rules include them in a CODE section. |
WC60J - One way saver Central/Southern Africa - Central/Southern Africa Economy (12.5k)
WB60 - One way saver USA - Central/Southern Africa Business (60k) WC48 - One way saver USA - Southern South America economy (30k) YC68/YC64 - not sure which is which. One is One-way saver USA - Central Asia economy, other us One-way saver USA - Middle East economy. |
WF80A -- OW Saver F 3-Cabin Hawaii - Japan
WC28A -- OW saver Y Hawaii inter-island flight XF80M -- OW Standard F 3-Cabin S.Asia - Japan WF72 - was listed as US - S. Asia via Europe, but I've had it issued as via the Pacific also, so I updated the comments. -David |

I don't think I have permission to edit the Wiki because of post count...
WC72 is the 32500 mile saver economy redemption for a one-way North America to South Asia on a partner. I have a booking made for post-Feb 1 2014 travel with a WC72. |
