Switching connection to train
I've often flown from UA SFO-PEK with an Air China codeshare from Beijing to destinations in China. Alas, Air China has a nasty habit of cancelling flights domestic flights.
What would happen if I just jumped on a train in Beijing? Would UA still try to cancel the return, even though the connection is cancelled?

Air China would likely rebook you on a later flight, which you would no-show for, resulting in the rest of your ticket being canceled.
Most likely it could be worked out with a phone call to United, but it could go west quickly if anything is sold out/overbooked.
