As of 3 March 2019, UA elites are being matched to the new Marriott Bonvoy Gold level including those UA elites who had gone Marriott Plat status during the Marriott / Starwood merger process. Marriott Bonvoy Gold does not include lounge access and late checkout is 2 PM

Q: If I registered and was granted complimentary Marriott Rewards Gold Elite status through RewardsPlus and have re–qualified for MileagePlus Premier Gold® status or higher for the following year, will I need to also re–register my request for complimentary Gold Elite status for the following year?

A: No. Members who have already registered for and received complimentary Marriott Rewards Gold Elite status through RewardsPlus in a calendar year and who qualify for MileagePlus Premier Gold® status or higher for the following calendar year will have their previous registration with RewardsPlus automatically renewed and will receive complimentary Marriott Rewards Gold Elite status for the following calendar year.

-------------------------------

For the United elites who are new to Marriott Rewards, here are the benefits you receive as Gold. Please familiarize yourself with what you are and are not entitled to as a Marriott Gold.

Also, please be nice to the Marriott 'newbies' who come to this forum to figure out what UA Silver gets (or doesn't get) them.

And here is a thread with some details for the newly-minted UA Silvers:

Ahh the travel bank! Great idea. Thanks guys. With that and the Marriott credit the annual fee is nearly wiped out and this card is a no brainer.

Now: Anyone know if you can have multiple AMEX platinum level products at the same time?

I don't think that's working anymore. Read the red notice at the top of the wiki; I think the rest below is obsolete because of it. I just switched my airlines to Delta and AS last year because of it. But again, probably best to discuss in that thread.

Have you considered things like United subscriptions such as:
  • United Club ($450/year for 1K)
  • Wifi (unlimited wifi on UA flights)
    • North/Central America - $539/year
    • Global - $689/year
The best part about having the wifi subscription is you can email 1KVoice and get a voucher/partial refund every time it fails!

Downgraded to what? If you stayed 50 night last year, you are at least Plat.

"disgruntled" due to no more free, unearned status? I mean, I know it's FT and all, but . . . .

I had made lifetime gold at SPG prior to the merger. I was disappointed with the downgrade to the 4pm checkout time. Having the platinum benefit last year kept me booking Marriott/Starwood Properties. Now that I'm back to gold with no guaranteed late checkout, I will be staying at other places.

Not really breaking my heart, I don't dislike Marriott by any means but I am more of a Hilton person for a variety of reasons. However, many here seem to be..... well "disgruntled". I like the word anyhow.

This was a change announced well in advance. Sure, please go ahead and book with Hilton. By the way, does Hilton offer you lounge access at 25 EQN level?

Has anyone asked whether United GS would be willing to give Marriott Platinum status to GS?

I'm not disgruntled, but there were probably a dozen nights that I went with Marriott where another hotel would have been better in some way that they won't get this year. I'm sure they don't care, but I'm also sure that the positive impact of the partnership for them will decline, because I'm not alone in my anticipated behavior.

How would UA give you status in another program outside of what the other program allows? It was Marriott that decided to only provide Gold status to UA customers.
