I just cleared my first IAD-DEN CPU of the year for Tuesday evening. I'd been missing everything I tried: Saturday morning, Tuesday morning, etc. This one was a moderately expensive ($460-ish) but very low fare class (L) ticket, and I was not expecting it to clear even on an off-peak day.

4/7 IAH based PG - could be worse

That's actually quite good. What routes?

L isn't very low anymore now that we have K and G fares...and the ultra-low N fares...

lol.... Sunday SJU-EWR 1k on an E fare, 3rd on the ug list, with 5 people upgraded... and 1 spot open.

While I don't have a dog in this fight, I will confide that the current state of affairs makes me rethink my plan to expend my FPQMs on Gold. Even Platinum has lost its luster!

RNE, rethinking my Presidential Plus card.

IAH > IAD X IAH
IAH > SLC > IAH
IAH X BOG > IAH
IAH > YEG ? IAH

Sorry, couldn't count... 5/7, even better. :D

This CPU crap is really starting to drive me crazy.

I'm booked on UA1234 on 4/18. I'm a 1K MM, but my CPU's always seem to clear at the PremExec window (48 hour). I haven't been PremExec since 2008.

I watched it go from RN8 to RN4 at the 1K window (96 hours) at approximately 13.30 Eastern on 4/14.

Today (4/15) I watched it go from RN4 to RN2 at the Platinum window (72 hours) at approximately 13.20 Eastern.

And.... I'm still in coach. Fabulous. Love the new PSS system Jeff, keep up the good work, sorry to hear about the 35% pay cut.

At least, I know that the system does seem to work... for everyone else!

Could it just be more 1Ks getting upgraded ahead of you? I was upgraded on my last two EWR-LAX flights about 26 hours before the flight.

MM doesn't count for anything relative to CPUs. And noones been a Premier Exec since last year.

This 1K scored a CPU on tough LAX-IAH route this morning. 35 left on upgrade list. Flight from Maui last night upgraded all Elites, credit card holders, NRSAs, and probably op-ups from coach.

I'd thought that CPU's came out of the RN bucket. If RN>0 after the 1K "window" that means (to me) that all the eligible 1K's have been upgraded.

Kind of funny I stumbled onto this thread, because I was just female dogging about this very subject yesterday. Don't spend a whole lotta time in these parts;)

I started a Premier Plat challenge back in January, since I was going to be based part time in IAH this year. On 11 CPU eligible flights, I cleared exactly 1 CPU. I even missed out on a 6:30 AM DFW-IAH flight on a SATURDAY morning, for crying out loud. Now I know I don't fly the most expensive fares and some of my flights are elite heavy (IAH-DCA/SEA), but 1/11 is pretty bad. My 1 upgrade was on a SFO-DFW CR7 "dinner" flight:rolleyes:

In contrast, I'm 11/12 as an AA EXP this year, missing a Friday afternoon DCA-MIA, and 4/5 as a DL FO last year. Anyways...

R only ties to instrument-supported upgrades ... CPUs do not come from R but rather from some hidden inventory which is <= R. (RN is not used at all.) It is very common that, even when things are working properly, R will be > 0 while CPUs are still waitlisted.

This is different from pmUA's treatment of NF.

31 out of 37 this year so far. My return BDL-ORD-AUS on Friday cleared today.

Been over 80% all year.

TIMOS Apr 15, 2013 9:38 pm

Hi All

I am United Gold.

I have an upcoming LAX-HNL-LAX flight on May 24 (weekend of Memorial Day) and return on May 27

What is chances of clearing a CPU on this tourist heavy route.

Right now both flights are R9/RN9

Also - I have a companion travelling with me but booked on seperate reservation. United has told me if my CPU clears at 48 hours I can then call and add him as my companion and see if we can get him an upgrade too.

True or False?

THANKS
