Upgrade redeposit after downgrade?
OK,
This is greedy, but I'll ask anyway. My RPU cleared for a flight. At the gate, I volunteered for a downgrade. I got a nice juicy voucher and had a great E+ seat for my 5 hour flight. Is it appropriate to ask UA to redeposit the RPU to my account? I searched but couldn't find anything about this.

A voluntary situation (denied boarding or downgrade) means you get whatever compensation agreed on between you and United. I'd be very surprised if that didn't include a redeposit of your RPU but double check the fine print that accompanied the voucher.

You may be overthinking this one. An unused RPU (for whatever reason) will be returned, nothing to negotiate.
