Allowed connection time between flights?

Was just looking at a ticket for June and it has a connection time of 29 minutes, in CLE, in the evening. That seems like a complete recipe for disaster, given T-storms, etc.

Since when did UAL go this low? I'd always thought it was some number between 35 and 45 minutes.

Present MCT for CLE, UA-UA varies between 25 to 30 minutes depending on flights
In general terms mainline to mainline is 25 mins and anything involving UX is 30 mins -- but there are some exceptions both.

Damn, seems very short, and optimistic, especially in the PM given T-storms, and other cumulative delays from earlier in the day. My particular example is a UX-UX connection.

I don't think the MCT takes into account any cumulative delays from earlier in the day. That is, it doesn't increase as the hour gets later in the day. The MCT is designed for the situation of on-time arrivals and departures, giving passengers and luggage enough time to connect between flights at an airport, taking into account airport-specific issues (such as how long it takes to get from the two gates furthest apart).
