That doesn't mean that it was not stolen by an ignorant thief.
If you have homeowner's insurance, you may be able to file a claim there (depending on your deductible). |

100% chance I am in the wrong forum, but I am educable. If I report a lost Ipad to United, with the date, the flight, and the exact location where I left it, along with the color and the fact that my contact info is taped to the Ipad, why can't they find it? It's useless to anyone without the code.
2) Sheer volume of lost items -- one estimate is 600,000 !!! laptops are lost at airports annually. Add that to tablet, phones, ..... its quite a mess. The "code" is pretty weak protect -- better to use a remote lock and clean approach. How to crack the iPad password in 5 seconds How to Hack/Crack/Recover/Skip an iPhone/iPad/iPod’s Passcode? |

Seriously? People take stuff they find. Simple as that. I'm sorry you lost it but it's gone. Buy a new one.
Also: very easy to bypass and restore as own iPad, etc. Got an email in January 2014 informing me that Houston had found it and to contact. Cost $15 in mailing but got it back. Perhaps the system can work but it seems to take some time. By the way, $15 was US, International was $20. |

Who knows what happened. It could have been taken by a cleaner, the next passenger to find it, or could be one of several hundred lost items waiting to be registered at he local (or perhaps a hub) lost and found. You should be able to report this and hopefully they'll find it and contact you. Don't expect it, of course. But it is possible. We've all done something like this. In 2006, I left an old iPod on a NW plane. I realized when I got to the rental car counter at MSP. Went back and let them know the flight, seat and exact location. They couldn't find it. This was probably about 20 minutes after I left the plane. I'll never know what happened. Maybe they didn't see it in front of then, maybe a cleaner took it, maybe it went to lost and found (I followed up with them several tiens and they never found it, either). While I was upset - it wasn't at NW for not being able to find it, but at myself for leaving it where I shouldn't have. This may, unfortunately, be a lesson learned the hard way. Many of us have learned this way, on occasion. |
Such warm replies! Since my seat was at the front of the plane, and the Ipad in a red cover right in the seat pocket, I am aware that any following passenger could have grabbed it. Could have even pretended to be turning it in to United. Fear not, fellow travelers. I am aware that I am the one who left it. But, I cannot afford a new one since I have to keep buying Premium Economy just to fly. The least United could do is find my Ipad. They managed to change my schedule so I won't make my connection, why not that? sigh, no further replies needed. I have been told.

Left on board (LOB)
I left my Bose headphones on a flight last month. I submitted the information via the website and received an email confirming the submission, but saying not to reply to the email. Should I have any hope of hearing from United?
|
it may take a while since every lost item eventually ships to houston. if this ever happens again i suggest going to the airport where you left the item if possible and ask in person, much better odds imo. good luck
|
These could have been off-loaded at your destination or been left onboard until the aircraft was cleaned at the end of the day, three stops downline.
Unless there was specific identifying information, at this point, it's unlikely that you will see the headphones again. Next person in the seat was probably pleasantly surprised with UA's new sound system! |

Anyone think this is worth a follow-up to UA? This isn't about any sort of compensation - more about them getting their act together to assist anyone else in the future who may be in a similar predicament. 1Kvoice? Someone else? No one? In the past however (two occasions), I have found my lost items (same jacket and cell phone) in the baggage office at the destination. In this case, I guess the flight went off with it, so it's likely sitting at the lost and found at the next destination. Anyway I can find where my flight went next? |

I just got an email today for Ipad I had left on board back in November 2013. I had described the cover. They found it and are shipping it overnight to me. They waived the shipping charge "due to my status"
Too bad I bought the new air a month ago. But either way don't give up hope! |
Been traveling too much to check this, but I'm very glad the laptop was returned to u2vox.
I think there's an unanswered question about how long they hang on to things there. When I went, I think they said 30 days. The actually let me in back to look for my item, and it's amazing how many full-on rollaboards they had. I've got to believe how long they keep things is a function of available space. |
I left an Ipad on my flight after landing at ORD and had it sent to me via Fed-Ex about two weeks later. Needless to say, I feel pretty lucky with that result.
I wasn't so fortunate with my headphones and Ipod 7 years ago. |
