Question about Amtrak-United Earning
Hello. Long-time visitor, first time poster with a questions that I haven't seen answered here or in the Amtrak forums.
It seems that some Amtrak routes are eligible to earn MileagePlus miles (http://www.united.com/CMS/en-US/Mark.../Amtrak.aspx)*. Is this earning in lieu of normal Amtrak Guest Rewards points or in addition to? Do you have to give up the AGRs in order to receive the MileagePlus miles?
Likewise, United flyers can earn Amtrak Guest Rewards points on United flights, so I'm wondering if this is in lieu of MileagePlus miles, or in addition to them.
I travel Amtrak quite a bit and am a few weeks away from Select Plus status, which provides access to the United Clubs. I've mostly been a Delta flyer (usually only achieving Silver Medallion status, since I take Amtrak more often than I fly). However, I'm considering switching my flying to United, given the partnership with Amtrak and the United Club access that I'll get as a part of the Amtrak/United partnership.
Thanks so much for your insights!
